Mission: We are Passionate People Helping Extra-Ordinary People Own Homes When Other Lenders Don’t.
Our employees have done a fantastic job adapting to the new working reality caused by CV19, and there have been many examples of them going above and beyond to ensure we continue to operate as a business and support our customers effectively. We introduced a Company Charter which set out our realistic expectations of working from home while managing childcare, home schooling and other challenges. (See image). We continue to live by our values, and we introduced an online Recognition Award so that we can recognise our colleagues for the work they do, with the money added to their pay cheque at the end of the month! The voting is also currently open for our first 'virtual' Summer Values Award. Despite the challenges, we expect to be recruiting throughout this year, with the predominant focus in our Servicing (Customer Service) department. Reach out to our Recruitment team via firstname.lastname@example.org to find out more.
Kensington Mortgages – smarter mortgage solutions
Kensington is the UK's leading non-bank specialist mortgage lender. With a 24 year heritage, Kensington uses a combination of data and human insight to look beneath the surface, to go deeper than mainstream lenders where all too often the answer is “computer says no”. It is this “head and heart” approach which is the key to the #KensingtonDifference.
WE DON'T PUT PEOPLE INTO NEAT LITTLE BOXES
Our 24 year heritage in specialist mortgages means that we understand better than most that no two people are the same. We design our mortgages with flexible lending criteria to serve the needs of customers that the high street turns away, and target prime mortgage borrowers in growing market segments - people like the self-employed builder or kitchen table entrepreneur, the over 55s, contract workers, multiple income applicants or those who have a small blip on their credit file. It is through our innovative use of data, combined with human expertise, that we are comfortable lending to a broader range of people than other lenders.
DATA AND ANALYTICS ARE EMBEDDED IN OUR DNA
All Kensington mortgages are powered by VECTOR, our proprietary and hugely powerful analytical model that is embedded into all phases of the mortgage lifecycle.
VECTOR is supported by a unique dataset comprising over 400k mortgage accounts spanning all UK geographies, housing types, mortgage types and credit loan parameters for the last 20 years, and has driven the development of a number of in-house analytical tools and reporting capabilities that are key to the unique way in which we assess and manage mortgage credit risk.
FINANCIAL STRENGTH AND SCALE
With assets under management of over £11 billion, Kensington is the leading non-bank specialist mortgage lender in the UK including servicing of c£5.5 billion assets for third parties. We originated c£1.4 billion of new mortgages in 2019 representing a Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of more than 25% over the last 4 years.
We are one of the largest issuers of residential mortgage-backed securities (RMBS) in the UK having sponsored 15 securitisations totalling over £8 billion since 2015.
Read on and discover a culture where you and your career aspirations matter – a place where we reward your contribution to our success, where ambition is encouraged and where we help you to grow and develop to be the best that you can be.
At Kensington, across our teams and functions, we all work to deliver a single-minded purpose:
We are Passionate People Helping Extra-Ordinary People Own Homes When Other Lenders Don’t.
WHAT WE DO
On Wednesday 13th December 1995, Kensington completed its first loan and pioneered a new approach to lending to customers overlooked by mainstream lenders. Nearly 25 years later, we’re the UK’s leading residential specialist mortgage lender,* with a mortgage book of over £5bn, and we’re still blazing a trail offering people the chance to get a mortgage.
Where high street lenders see black and white, we’ve always seen the shades in between. We don’t just rely on what the computer says, we use real people to understand the real circumstances behind what’s written on a mortgage application form. Our innovative use of data driven by our in-house analytical tool Vector, combined with human expertise and flexible lending criteria is what we call our ‘head and heart’ approach. It comes from an understanding that no two people are the same. That a self-employed builder will have different circumstances to a contract worker, a kitchen table entrepreneur, someone who’s over 55 or who has a small blip on their credit file.
The way we live today means that extra-ordinary circumstances are rapidly becoming ordinary and that’s why we’re here, to provide mortgages to a broader range of people than the high street lenders.

I have been working at Kensington Mortgages full-time (More than a year)
I have worked for Kensington Mortgage Company for over a year and am impressed with the consistent approach that the business has to do the right thing for both it's people and customers.
Over the past 12 months there has been a real transition within the business to understand what it's team members and customers want and need now as well as a clear focus on what team members and customer will want in the future.
The culture of the organisation feels like it has come up to date with new structural organisation, branding, values and onus on keeping things simple and making it easy for our teams to do their jobs and for customers to do business with us.
The air conditioning is particularly effective which can be a pro or con depending on how you like the temperature!
