Yesterday was MDS’ annual Christmas Jumper Day, so we donned our most festive knits to raise money for St Rocco’s Hospice in Warrington. 2017 was a good year for MDS, so we raised our glasses to celebrate our successes and to toast the coming year.
This Christmas we have joined Key 103's Toy Appeal Mission - our teams have donated toys for disadvantaged children which are then distributed at Christmas.

Our head office is based in Warrington, near Manchester and is home to around 190 of MDS employees. We moved into our new offices in 2013 and we’re centrally located close to the M6 and M62 motorway network. There is free on site car parking as well as showers, lockers and kitchens with free tea, coffee and fruit. In our main canteen area, you’ll find a break out area with pool table and TV.
In Warrington you’ll find our Business Support teams (Finance, Management Information Systems, Human Resources & Development, Facilities, Compliance), Managed Services (Application and Billing, Business Support, Internal IT, Production Fix and Infrastructure, Service Change, Service Delivery, Service Operation Centre), Engineering (Service Analysis and Design, Services QA, Development), Programmes and Project Management, Sales & Marketing and Product Management.
In a great town centre location, our Limerick team is smaller and currently have around 40 employees based here. We’re currently in the process of updating our office space. The onsite kitchen offers free tea, coffee and fruit. In Limerick, you find our Engineering team (Service Analysis and Design, Services QA and Development).

I have been working at MDS full-time (More than a year)
Having been at the company for a year, I have already moved teams and have been supported with my development every step of the way. Before starting here at MDS, I did not particularly have a wealth of telecoms experience, having just worked within call centres during summer breaks and after university. I felt immediately welcomed at MDS and the team helped me with the learning process around the product and how the business works. Having such a strong team around me has enabled me to grow and flourish within the business and has opened new opportunities up to me. The flexible working hours are really helpful in balancing work and home life as well as having 25 days holiday minimum! I would recommend working at MDS to anybody who is new to the telecoms industry or anybody who already has a wealth of expertise in the field.
I would say the training could be more structured for new employees as there is a lot to learn, this can be slightly overwhelming but the team around me helped this transition go smoothly.
Advice to Management
Although this may not be the case so much for me, I do feel that some peoples efforts are overlooked and almost taken for granted. I feel that more recognition should be given and objectives should be incentivised to promote a healthier working environment.

My interview experience with MDS was very positive. I did my first interview by phone as I lived quite far from Warrington, and they were flexible about timings with my two face-to-face interviews as I had to travel so far. When I arrived at MDS, the receptionist was welcoming and the interviewers were friendly so I immediately felt at ease. The questions were straightforward and it actually felt more like a conversation than an interview!
