Marston's – Why Work For Us?

We’ve been running pubs and brewing beer in one form or another for over 180 years. Now we’ve got around 14,300 people working for us and many more in partnership with us, and they all share our passion!

Our people; from the brewery teams, to the distribution fleet, to every single team member in our pubs, have helped us to become a thriving FTSE All Share listed company.

We have pubs that are traditional locals, family pub restaurants and fashionable town centre bars. While pubs may have changed a lot over the years, the reasons people use them hasn’t. The pub is where we go to socialise, celebrate, commiserate, relax, reflect, regroup or simply enjoy a cold beer or a bite to eat at the end of a long day.

We are now one of the country’s top pub businesses and the leading brewer of premium cask and bottled beers. We operate six breweries producing over 60 of the country's best loved ales at our sites in: Burton on Trent (Marston’s), Oxfordshire (Wychwood & Brakspear), Cumbria (Jennings), Hampshire (Ringwood), Bedford (Eagle) and the West Midlands (Banks’s).

We're rightly proud of our heritage - our people, our pubs and our beers. We work hard making sure that everything we do; from the beers we brew, to the pubs they are enjoyed in, and the people that serve them, are always the best that they can possibly be.

Opportunities for everyone...

We employ over 13,000 people at pubs located across England and Wales in over 500 managed houses. More recently we’ve been opening pub restaurants in Scotland too.

A big part of our strategy is new builds. We’ve opened over 100 pubs which we’ve built from scratch! This year we’re on course to open 22 more across the UK, with six lodges due to open alongside our pubs too. With each new build we create on average 48 new jobs!

As well as investing in new pubs, we make sure that we don’t neglect our existing ones. We regularly invest in these sites too, making sure they’re up to scratch for both our customers and the teams who work in them.

Find out more about the opportunities we can offer and the ways you can develop your career with Marston's through our apprenticeships and in-house development programmes.

    Waitress Interview

    Anonymous Employee in Sidcup, England

    Positive Experience
    Easy Interview

I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Marston's (Sidcup, England) in January 2018.

I arrived at my interview, where a few other people were sat. I was welcomed by two staff members who were really happy and talkative. A lady then come down who was also very happy and talkative to take us up for our interview. We sat down and was greeted by about 7/8 managers or so. They were all lovely and none of them made it feel to serious. We had to do a group activity with the other applicants to build a sky scraper out of paper & balance a ball on top. After that we had to do a ‘star of the show’ performance to show what the perfect waitress or waiter is. You could make a song up, a poem or even just draw a stick man & talk about it. The third task we had a interview where we all sat down with the different managers. The lady I had made me feel so comfortable & I was only asked 3/4 questions. I didn’t know how fun a interview could be till interviewing with Marstons! I was also offered the job next day which I am starting soon.
