This year we've voluntarily announced our Ethnicity Pay Gap. Whilst there is no legal requirement for us to publish this, it’s one of the commitments we made to our colleagues because we believe it is the right thing to do. We know that becoming a true place of belonging is not something that you can tick off as a job done. We have to keep making improvements that are authentic and relevant. Our Ethnicity Pay Gap is a significant measure of how effective our actions around race have been. Going forward the information in this report will help us to understand what improvements we’ve made, help us to make better decisions and shape the priorities for our diversity agenda.

We've partnered with British Gas to deliver a decarbonisation pilot scheme in Coventry. A pilot involving three homes is under way and sees PH Jones, British Gas’ social housing business, showcasing how homes can be retrofitted with insulation, low carbon heating and solar energy to not only make homes more energy efficient, but also lower carbon emissions by 40-60%

Equality and diversity is so important to us, which is why we have four Inclusion Networks.

Each Network hosts events, shares insightful articles and blogs, runs awareness campaigns and more – it's only by working together that we can make Midland Heart a truly inclusive workplace where everyone feels like they belong.

The work we've done has been recognised by Inclusive Companies and in 2020, we came 24th in their annual awards for Inclusive Top 50 UK Employers.

    Easy Interview

I applied online. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at Midland Heart (Birmingham, England) in Jul 2021

As it was during lockdown, my interview was held over microsoft teams. The interview itself was around 30 minutes, with my manager and a second manager from another team. Both were very welcoming. I was asked customer service type questions about how I would respond to situations, what I have done in previous role that was beyond my role to help someone etc. I then had a 30 minute written activity where I had to prioritise different pieces of work and explain why I picked the order.

An example of how I had gone out of my way to help a customer
