Moorhouse Consulting – Why Work With Us?

Life at Moorhouse

We pride ourselves on providing excellent employee development opportunities. We recruit the best and we ensure that our people are engaged in complex, high value projects with globally renowned clients. We are proud of our people, who are the very best consultants from across the industry; they're a lively bunch with superb ability.

Our people are some of the best you will have the opportunity to work with. What stands them apart is the genuine realisation that we can all excel, grow and develop our careers in Moorhouse together.

We are committed to fostering an inclusive workplace that ensures our people feel comfortable bringing their whole selves to work. As we grow as a firm, we will continue to recognise and celebrate diversity at every level across the firm.
At Moorhouse, we are committed to hiring and promoting diverse talent. We are proud to be an equal opportunities employer and our values underpin a working environment that is inclusive for all those who work for us. We encourage people to bring their whole selves to work, contribute ideas, take initiative and be responsible for their impact on others internally and externally.

We believe that through embracing diversity we can provide the best environment for our people and continue to be the very best organisation in terms of our internal culture and the positive impact we are able to have with our clients.

We recognise that we need to actively champion change in order to foster an inclusive workplace. To address this, in 2017 colleagues from across the firm set up our Diversity and Inclusion Group with the purpose of driving our diversity and inclusion agenda forward.

For all of us in Moorhouse, respecting and embracing diversity and inclusion is just as important as delivering exceptional work for our clients. I am personally proud to support our D&I Group and create an environment where diverse perspectives thrive. If you would like to find out more about Diversity and Inclusion at Moorhouse, please don’t hesitate to contact me or one of the team.

Our values are fundamental to us. Whether you're looking to join Moorhouse or you're working with us, you'll see them in everything we do.

Integrity and accountability

We do what we say and do it well

We believe working together is the key to success

Sense of humour and perspective

We take our work seriously but not ourselves

Positive pragmatism

We have a 'can-do' attitude based on realistic goals

Our culture defines the way we work and it embodies our values. We're constantly refining it in the following ways:

Culture and Communications Team

This team, made up of people from across the business, meets regularly to ensure our values are upheld through a programme of events, get-togethers and corporate social responsibility.

Once a month we come together for a team meeting followed by a 'Purple'. This could be anything from learning the dance routine to 'Thriller' to decorating cakes.

Each quarter, the whole business escapes for a few days to step back, reflect, share knowledge, focus on the future and of course, have fun. Our summer Escape is four days long and usually abroad. Previously, we've stayed in a castle in Spain and by the sea in the south of France.

Celebrating Success

We recognise success through awards. Each quarter, we hold 'individual' and 'Team of the Quarter' awards. and each year, we run our 'Values' award ceremony.

At Moorhouse, you can really make a difference!

Integrity and Accountability | Collaboration | Sense of Humour and Perspective | Positive Pragmatism

We recognise that moving to a new organisation is a big decision. Our values are an intrinsic part of the firm. You will not see them written on big posters on the wall but you will experience them through the people you work with. We take pride in being consistent and transparent in striving to ensure that anyone who joins Moorhouse shares these values and has the integrity, humility and confidence to be part of the Moorhouse team.

We are looking for proactive, collaborative and straightforward team players to join our team. Our people are some of the best you will have the opportunity to work with. What stands them apart is the genuine realisation that we can all excel, grow and develop our careers in Moorhouse together. At Moorhouse you can be assured of an exciting opportunity that will stretch you and equip you with skills, experience and knowledge that can help organisations respond to the turbulence, change and opportunity that will undoubtedly define the future of work.

Training. A great internal training Academy, tailored to address both core consulting and specialised skills. I personally like the fact that not all training is delivered when you start, it is phased in a way that there is an opportunity to get some hands-on consulting experience first. Material is of course available to all if needed - along with many people willing to help.

Focus on people. The firm shows an amazing focus on its people and their well-being. There are four company escapes per year (one of them abroad!) and loads of benefits, resources and guidance on how to succeed in a sustainable way.

Career Progression. Clear career progression paths, with no focus on timelines. You only competing with yourself when it comes to promotions.

No significant cons as such - practically not any international opportunities, although this will likely change now that the company is part of a global group.

    Difficult Interview

Overall, the application process was incredibly refreshing; Moorhouse unquestionably demonstrate that they care about their applicants and are engaged with you at every stage of the process where a lot of larger firms would just see you as a number. You are always in touch with a human at every point and there are no automated screening processes that I was aware of.

During the assessment day, a huge emphasis was put on company values and the entirety of one of my two interviews was spent on this topic. My only criticism of the process is that this particular interview ended up being more about regurgitating facts on Moorhouse than discovering much about the interviewee. I didn't know all of the company values off by heart and, from feedback, this is a section which let me down. I think a better line of questioning would have been to state a value and then ask how one would embrace it - it seemed a little much to have to know them inside out before joining the company. Shame because from all my research and experience on the day, Moorhouse is one of the few consulting firms who really seem an amazing company to work for; they take a genuine interest in your wellbeing ensuring that you have a healthy working environment, so enabling you to fully enjoy the exciting challenges of consulting work.
