Company Updates

It's now been over a year since our partnership with FareShare begun, the UK’s biggest charity fighting hunger and food waste, and what a year it has been. Alongside that, we have also been working with FoodCloud, our food donation partner in Ireland. We recently celebrated the milestone of over 1 million meals redistributed through both organisations. It is an incredible achievement, but we believe this is just the beginning. As we continue to provide surplus food to our communities across the UK and Ireland, we’re also broadening our horizons into offering people employability pathways through charity partners as part of Nando's Community Programme. We’re all very excited at what the future will hold for our partnership. We heard from Katie, Head of FareShare Go: “We’re incredibly grateful to Nando’s for redistributing the equivalent of over one million meals’ worth of chicken, rather than letting it go to waste. With living costs continuing to rise, there are millions of people struggling to make ends meet across the UK, so this food is needed now more than ever and will help charities across the UK continue providing vital services in their communities."

This month we hosted our second HeadStart Insight Day at our Central Support offices as part of the #HeadStartAction programme. HeadStart is a youth employability and volunteering programme delivered by Family Action, who support disadvantaged young people who aren’t in education, employment, or training, helping them to develop the skills, experiences and confidence needed to secure and stay in employment. Nicky from our Recruitment Team told us how the day went: “It was a lovely, inspiring and heartwarming day. The feedback from all the Nando’s volunteers and the young people attending on the day was unanimous that it was a brilliant experience, and it was amazing to see their personalities come out and their natural confidence develop as the day went on. We want to give back to people in all the communities in which we operate – and hopefully to help develop their confidence in speaking to people and gain some useful tips and feedback for interview skills. We’ve held many similar events in our restaurants with the HeadStart programme and also hired some great new Nandocas through them. We’re hoping to continue them on a regular basis so we can give this opportunity to other young people to help with their employability skills.”

Interview
I saw a QR code on one of the Nando's branch window that they are hiring. This QR code links to the Nando's career website and I could apply for FOH position online. You can also check which Nando's branches are hiring at the moment by using the filtering option. I got a call from a restaurant manager and also received whatsapp messages afterwards with the information about where to find the restaurant and the exact time of the trial shift again for clarification which was nice. You do a trial shift with one of the Nandocas or with a buddy trainer for 4 hours, you are not paid for this trial shift, however you get a nice staff meal on that day. After the trial shift, I had a proper interview with one of the managers and filled in a paper which I remember it was about fire hazards and restaurant's safety regulations. The interview itself was quite nice and promising, I was told right away they want to hire me and was asked from when and which days I am able to work. Contract and important documents were provided and the response from the restaurant managers were super fast too. The actual company name is Nando's Chickenland Ltd.
