I have been working at North Yorkshire County Council full-time (More than 8 years)
NYCC are forward thinking, empowering and inspiration council to work for. They have a clarity of thinking that allows them to work through issues and focus on delivery. They have clear priorities empower staff and listen to customers, feedback and involve staff in those solutions. I wouldn't work any where else
The passion and desire to deliver the vital services to North Yorkshire is so strong that workload is high and most go the extra mile - every day so it becomes the norm (although incredibly enjoyable, especially working with talented driven like-minded peers)
Advice to Management
Be brave, your talented staff have the ability to achieve more - enable them, unlock their potential
I applied online. The process took 3+ months. I interviewed at North Yorkshire County Council (Northallerton, England) in September 2015.
Application form was completed detailing all relevant experience to the job and person specification. If you didn't take time to share all information you would be sifted out of the process. CVs are not accepted.
There was an online psychometric test which took 45 minutes.
Interview was a presentation followed by competency based interview, lasting an hour.
