I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Oh Polly (Glasgow, Scotland, Scotland)
InterviewAfter reading some reviews from former employees I was a bit unsure whether this was a company I wanted to work for but decided to go ahead with the interview. All glossy on the outside but there’s several red flags that gives a lot away about the culture. Was interviewed by the MD, who did his best to talk up the “opportunity” but it sounded nothing like the job spec provided by the recruitment agency. My skills and experience were questioned and dismissed, quite arrogantly, which I didn’t expect at this level. It was clear he wasn’t looking for a senior employee with ideas and ability but more of a “yes” person to carry out orders and keep junior team members in line. Used constant buzzphrases like A-team player and bring your A-game, but this sort of empty rhetoric didn’t impress me. It’s worth speaking to past and present employees during your interview process, they’ll tell you all you need to know about working here. Probably a good thing to have on your cv at a junior level but anyone with decent experience and ambition would struggle to thrive long term in this environment.
Have you ever fired anyone?1 Answers
