    Sales Consultant Interview

    Application

The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Pareto Law (London, England).

    Interview

Absolutely shocking. I booked a day off work for this absolute car crash of a company. Firstly I had a phone interview, after which I was told by my recruiter, (who isn’t based at the office I was interviewed at) that I’d be perfect and I should go along to the recruitment day where I’d be expected to give a brief presentation, followed by an interview and one to one time with the company they were hiring for.

    This wasn’t the case.

I was one of 50ish people in a room. We were basically left to our own devices for over 5 hours. Aside from another hour where we did a meaningless group exercise - pick a famous person and justify why they’d be on a life raft. My group defended into a shouting match, for which I’m far too professional and qualified for.

Then you gave a presentation for 3 mins.

Then i waited. Waited some more and more with no communication from anyone. I didn’t speak to the company who were actually hiring. No one did.

The people in the group while very nice and chatty were a complete mix of backgrounds. It felt very much like they were just trying to make up numbers to impress their client.

All in all the process took nearly 8 hours.
    5/6 of pure waiting
    1 for lunch
1 for the pointless expertise and following discussion.

If I they would respond I would invoice them for my time and loss of earnings as I completely wasted a day under false pretences.

Please please please if you read this after they’ve invited you to a recruitment day don’t go! You’ll waste your time and I guarantee that it’s not what they’ve told you over the phone.
