Edinburgh witnessed an inspiring wave of community spirit as over 50 of our Phoenix Heroes got together for our inaugural Big Volunteer Day. Their collective efforts led to a remarkable clean-up, collecting 80 bags of waste, which approximated to 35 stones, from the bustling streets of Edinburgh. The camaraderie and impactful endeavour not only left the streets cleaner but also instilled a stronger sense of community, echoing our commitment to environmental responsibility and local engagement. Kudos to our Phoenix Heroes for embodying the spirit of service and making our first Big Volunteer Day a resounding success!

We're really happy to announce we have leapt to 14th in the 2023 Social Mobility Employer Index, up from 24th in 2022. The index gauges employers on promoting equal opportunities. For us, talent knows no boundaries, and every background deserves a chance to shine. Rakesh Thakrar, our CFO and Social Mobility Sponsor, emphasises our 2024 focus on understanding our diverse representation and offering work experience to underprivileged students. ‘I am delighted to see that we are making real progress in the area of social mobility. Our focus for 2024 will be on providing more opportunities for those from lower socio-economic backgrounds whilst also collecting data from within our organisation. This internal data will show if we are truly reflective of society and the customers we serve. We are committed to drive forward on our social mobility aims, taking action to increase opportunity for all colleagues, enabling more people to reach their potential’ 🚀
Phoenix Group Reviews

Pros
Really trying to make a difference to colleagues, through Phoenix Flexible working policy, pushing forward on diversity and inclusion and tackling things like neurodiversity. They really help the carers who work for the company, great paternity/maternity flexibility and I believe they are trying to make it the best place colleagues have ever worked. They are transparent and fair. The gave the children free laptops when covid hit - quite breath-taking and won't be forgotten.
Cons
Progress is hampered with the sheer volume of internal movement however this is also good for colleagues and offers the individual opportunities. Some of the policies need trained our more to ensure everyone is clear on application, however this is also being addressed based on feedback which is excellent. Benefits package is a bit stale - we need to be an agitator in this space too - don't just encourage people to spend their own money through stale schemes - give them a real benefit - e.g. let them have their birthday off or free city centre parking at the weekends - small things make a difference.
