Who you are
A core value at QuantumBlack is fusion and at the heart of our multi-disciplinary teams is the belief that the sum of individual parts will always be less than the impact of the entire team. We look for people who are highly collaborative and capable of laying aside their own agenda, listening to and learning from colleagues, challenging thoughtfully and prioritising impact. QuantumBlack colleagues believe in iterative change, experimenting with new approaches, learning and improving to move forward quickly. Trust between colleagues is paramount here – we seek individuals who can always be trusted to work in the best interests of all colleagues and are naturally enthusiastic.
No project is ever the same; we work across multiple sectors, providing unique learning and development opportunities internationally.
Our work draws on applying cutting edge research from academia and industry to real-life business opportunities.
Examples of our impact:
-Saving lives: Bringing potentially life saving drugs to market faster by helping a pharma company drastically decrease clinical trial times.
- Keeping people connected: Improving telecoms networks up-time through predictive maintenance and optimisation.

I have been working at QuantumBlack full-time (More than a year)
- high challenge ("be the best you can be") but high support as well (training, coaching)
- amazingly smart colleagues
- design + software engineering + data science + data engineering + ML engineering + product management = crazy cool mix of people on project teams
- nice office (London)
- high pressure to perform means sometimes people not used to it can get a bit stressed
Advice to Management
- keep doing town halls and getting everyone together
- be thoughtful about which work to take - don't take it all - stay cutting edge
I applied in-person. The process took 4+ weeks. I interviewed at QuantumBlack (London, England) in January 2018.
I want preface this by saying my interview process at QB was one of the best I've ever experienced. Hats off to the recruitment team - the process from start to finish was engaging and exceptional. I really felt that QB were actually interested in learning about it me - as opposed to many other companies that treat this process as a numbers game. If the QB culture is anything remotely close to the culture of its hiring team, it'll be a great place to work!
In terms of the actual process, I met some data scientists at NIPS and then had a chat with the recruiter. A few days later, I received a call from the recruiter and we arranged a 1-hour initial chat where we spoke about QB and the recruitment process. I was then sent a coding test which I completed (though, I wasn't able to do so well on one of the questions). Thankfully, I heard back positively from the recruiter and I attended a preliminary on-site about a couple of weeks later. The interview involved a case-study as well as a chat with a senior DS. After this, I was invited to a final-round where I presented my masters thesis for ~1 hour and had a chat with another team lead. Throughout the entire process, I was kept well-informed by my recruiter and he was more than happy to answer any questions I had!
I heard back from the team at most 2 days after every stage of the process and I'm looking forward to joining the team soon.
