Revolut – Why Work With Us?

When Revolut was founded in 2015, we had a vision to build a sustainable, digital alternative to traditional big banks. Our mission now is to help our customers improve their financial health, empower them to have more control, and promote financial cohesion across the communities in which we operate.

In 2019, Revolut was named Deloitte’s fastest growing UK FinTech company. With over 9 million Personal account users, and a quarter of a million Business users, the pace and scale of customer uptake demonstrates the vast need across the globe for better financial services. As our customer base has boomed in the last year, we’ve expanded our team to match that growth. We started 2019 with several hundred employees; we’re closing it out with almost 2000.

Revolut is being scaled up by people all around the world who share our vision. We’re looking for people who align with our four core values: we Never Settle, we Get It Done because we Think Deeper and we’re Stronger Together.

So, are you ready to join our revolution?

We’re not just revolutionising the financial world. We also want to change the status quo in the workplace. We’ve worked hard to create a community of forward-thinking people who are all personally and professionally invested in Revolut’s mission.

Instead of building a traditional hierarchy as we scale up, we’re nurturing a collaborative space where everyone can learn from each other; bringing together experienced talent and inspirational new voices. Part of being Stronger Together is sharing our knowledge and expertise to become industry leaders. At Revolut, our people have the opportunity to learn a lot, and to learn fast. We provide challenging work for ambitious people that’s recognised with performance-led bonuses and promotions.

We believe in empowering our Revoluters in their work, giving them autonomy and ownership of what they do. We want everyone at Revolut to own their story and their successes - working with us means you’re not just another cog in the machine. Our fast-paced, disruptive environment means that you’ll get huge satisfaction from seeing your work having a tangible effect, in real time.

To get the inside track on the people behind the Revolut product, check out our social media channels on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn!

We want to make sure that the benefits we offer can help you in and out of the office. That’s why we’ve created a compelling package to support you during your time at Revolut. Depending on which office you’re in, these might change, so be sure to check with your recruiter about your options!

Health and Wellbeing

We think it’s important that all our Revoluters feel supported in body and mind, so we’ve put together a package that addresses those needs.

We offer comprehensive health insurance with optical and dental cover for all our staff, with reduced rates for additional dependants. For Revoluters looking to start a family, we support all parents with enhanced maternity and paternity leave and pay. As part of your health insurance in London, we have partnered with PureGym to offer our staff a 50% discount on all PureGym memberships. Plan specifics may vary according to country, so do check with your local office to find out more!

Alongside a healthy body, we want to encourage a healthy mind. Through their subscriptions to the Calm app, our Revoluters have access to meditation and sleep guides that promote better sleep, lower stress, and less anxiety.

Diversity and Inclusion

Our dedicated Culture and Diversity & Inclusion teams are here to support all of our Revoluters at work and beyond. In 2019, the London office launched their first on-site Reflection Room for reflection, meditation, or religious observance. We’re hoping to expand this to our other offices as we grow! Finally, we’re in the process of launching guilds at Revolut, with the aim of providing support, inspiration, and engagement company-wide.

Revolut supports an inclusive work space. If you have any disability or adjustment needs, let us know when you apply.

We provide our team with all the latest tech products, as well as plenty of additional tech accessories. We’ve created an internal online IT store where Revoluters are able to order tech and accessories for same day in-office delivery - meaning you’ll always have access to whatever you may need for work.

Feed your work

We want to make sure that our people have brain fuel, so we provide all day breakfast in our offices, including cereals, fruit, and avocados. Throughout the day, we offer a variety of drinks and snacks from our communal kitchen. If you’re working late, order dinner to the office with Deliveroo.

In and out of the office

Revolut is committed to the health and wellbeing of all our people, and so we offer a Cycle-to-Work scheme as part of our RevPerks package. RevPerks was built to gather all the great deals that being a Revoluter can get you, including discounts on smart tech, gyms, restaurants, groceries, electronics, travel, and more.

Commuting can feel like a time and energy drain, so we give you the option of working from home once a week to give you the opportunity to skip that distraction. And, if you finish past midnight in the office, get an Uber home - it’s on us.

Take a break

On the back of research that suggests more holiday time makes for more productive teams, we’ve implemented a 29-day annual leave policy, in addition to public holidays. But that’s not all - we want you to feel special on your birthday, so take the day on us!

Plan ahead with our company pension scheme, where we offer a 3% contribution in addition to your 5%+ for a more assured future.

Your free Revolut Metal subscription can help you budget for the future, with a wide range of perks including concierge, cashback, access to airport lounges, and that state-of-the-art metal card too.

“An opportunity to join one of the world's fastest-growing unicorns doesn't come up often. So when it does, it’s one worth taking. For me, joining Revolut to work on Diversity and Inclusion has already opened me up so many different perspectives and experiences. It’s an area that’s always been a weak spot for FinTech, so it’s exciting to have a chance to be able to tackle it in such a tangible way here at Revolut.”

“Having bureaucracy stripped out of my working life makes me so much more efficient. Our offices have a relaxed dress code and less strict office hours than at a traditional company, so the focus is completely on getting the job done. I’ve appreciated the steep learning curve; in a few weeks at Revolut, I learned more than I did in a year at a traditional bank."

“Even when everyone is working hard, they take the time and make an effort to help out anyone that asks for it. It’s a really inclusive environment where I feel that I’m meeting really progressive people in the industry and learning a lot. We also have plenty of opportunities to be social, and that brings us all closer together. I definitely feel that we embody ‘Stronger Together’ every single day at work.”

We tailor our recruitment process to each of the roles that we’re hiring for, to ensure that we’re giving our candidates a relevant and appropriate recruitment experience.

If you’re interested in an open role at Revolut, we encourage you to apply for it through our website. Alternatively, if you have friends who are Revoluters, asking for a referral may be another path to joining our team.

Once you’ve started our recruitment process, you’ll be paired with a recruiter that will be your point of contact throughout the process. They’ll be able to answer all your questions, and support you if you have any adjustment requests or disability requirements that should be taken into consideration. Your recruiter will keep you informed of the process and your feedback throughout.

Our Recruitment Principles:

  • At every stage, we test for skills you’ll need in your day-to-day work at Revolut.

  • We believe things don’t improve unless they are measured, so we admire a data-driven approach in our candidates.

  • We give equal weight to technical expertise and people skills. It’s important that our teams feel comfortable asking for feedback, being humble, and are keen to learn and collaborate.

  • We look at our candidates’ experience through the lens of our four core values:

    • Never Settle

    • Stronger Together

    • Get *It Done

    • Think Deeper

  • Don’t give up! If you didn’t get an offer last time, try again. We don’t dismiss applicants based on previous recruitment performance at Revolut.

I have been working at Revolut full-time (Less than a year)

I love the fast-paced and exciting environment and the fact that I get to work with a great team and brilliant people throughout the business. The base salaries are good and they offer great benefits (30 days annual leave, free deliveroo, etc.)

A lot of complaints in other reviews are about the work-life balance and to be honest it can vary quite a bit depending on departments and individual teams. In my department the work-life balance is very good, in fact it's better than at other companies I've worked at before.

The culture of never settling and always striving to be better aligns closely with my personal values, therefore it's a plus for me. However, if your biggest ambition in life is to be home in front of the TV by 6 pm every day, it might admittedly not be for you. I think people need to be aware what working for a start-up is really like before joining with false expectations.

Communication from (senior) management can be less than ideal, some decisions (mostly around internal processes) don't seem to be well thought through.

    Advice to Management

Involve employees more in decision-making, especially in decisions that affect employees directly

I applied in-person. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at Revolut (London, England) in February 2020.

The interview process took slightly more than 5 weeks. Divided into 4 main stages, the process is extremely efficient thanks to the DS talent team. At each single stage, thorough feedback was provided.

    The four stages consist of:
    - Phone interview with talent lead (general questions about yourself and some preliminary technical questions around Python, SQL)
    - Take home data challenge (quite long to finish but extremely interesting). One week time is available for the candidate to complete it
    - Technical interview with 2 senior data scientists. Here you are asked to present findings of the data challenge, answer technical questions on DS or machine learning, do a live python coding exercise
    - Final interview with head of team or pm: this is mainly a culture fit assessment as well as previous background and experience check to make sure team's goals and candidate skills are aligned.
