    Advice to Management

    continue the good work, even when it looks like to be a bit lonely up there. Don't forget that you have an amazing crew following. You can always check back over your shoulder to take a step further.

    Interview

    The process had several stages. Stage 1, I had to complete one of their online assessments covering numerical, deductive and inductive reasoning. If you were successful for stage 1 you would proceed to stage 2 which was a telephone interview.

    I found that stage 2 was not very professional. Firstly, the commercial manager who I was to speak with was actually 15 minutes late in calling me. The interview itself felt very rushed and I had the distinct impression that they were more concerned with their next appointment as they mentioned several times that they had one straight after myself. When it was my turn to ask any questions, our time was up and I was told that they did not have time to continue. I was told that I would hear back in the following 2-3 days.

    I did not hear back from them until a week later when I called them myself for an update. They informed me I was unsuccessful and they would not be proceeding further. The feedback they provided me with only reinforced my feeling that the interview had not been conducted properly. For example, one part of the feedback was that they did not feel I had shown 'why I wanted to work for SHL' despite the fact I had spent 5-10 minutes demonstrating the research I had done on their current products and achievements. The second part of my feedback showed that the person who interviewed me had not listened to me at all. They said that I had not been targeted on 'money' previously and that they needed someone who had been. My current target is based around annual growth, GP and increased sales, which I had explained in the interview.

    In summary. I felt as if the interview process was very poor and unprofessional. Considering they they contacted me for the role (as I was not looking for a new job) they could have at least had the courtesy to conduct a proper interview with me.
