Outstanding opportunity for young people to develop their leadership skills in a challenging and rewarding environment like no other in the UK.
Long hours and can be physically very draining teaching all day as you are a performer. Then outside of the classroom you must prepare and mark work.
Advice to Management
Keep doing what you are doing within TeachFirst. Maybe offer managerial support to school staff who might be excellent teachers but not managers.
I applied online. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at TeachFirst (London, England) in January 2016.
Completed the online application form. Was invited to the assessment day in London which consisted of a 1:1 interview, a group exercise and a mock prepared lesson which I prepared beforehand (in this order). The day was fairly long (10-4) but I was put in a room with other applicants and everyone was lovely to speak to so time passed quickly. There was time for a lunch break where we were allowed to go outside. It was a great learning process even though I didn't get an offer - the feedback was useful which has helped me understand myself more.
