I have been working at Tenpin full-time (More than 10 years)
A growing company that has expanded to 40 sites in the last few years, every day is different and every day challenges you to be the best you can be. Expectations are high, so you always need to bring your A game. Officially a Great Place to Work and a Gold Standard Investor in People ticks the people development box for me and plenty of development is provided from Customer Service Assistant up to General Manager.
To some, a con would be that it can be a very challenging place to work with high expectations but if you are driven enough and want to succeed, you will relish this and the recognition for success is high.
Not much in the way of advancement opportunity when you hit General Manager.
Advice to Management
Invest in having more positions available for General Manager advancement such as Junior Area Manager, Special Projects Manager and an Openings and Acquisitions Manager.
I applied online. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at Tenpin in July 2017.
Applied online, got a call the next day inviting me for an interview the day after. It was quite casual. Interviewer was very nice and he ended up being one of my managers. Super easy to get on with and we had a laugh. Had the interview in a corner of the bar so it was quite loud. He said that he mostly employed people based on their attitude, personality and whether he thought they would fit in with the rest of the team. I expressed my keenness to go out of my comfort zone and try out all the departments available, which he liked. I think my small amount of bar experience helped me.
