I have been working at University of North Carolina School of the Arts full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Great Students, good facilities, great fellow faculty members. There are many amazing performances on campus. Its a special place to study and work. However....

    Cons

Admin seems to have a hard time prioritizing the education of the students - does not give the resources that the programs need to stay relevant and competitive. Budgets have been flat for years even though number of students has increased. Faculty salaries are much lower than peer institutions and raises are very rare. Faculty workload is excessive. Benefits are minimal.

    Advice to Management

Treat your faculty better - improve their pay, workload and benefits - they are amazing and why the programs are so good!

    Application

I applied online. The process took a week. I interviewed at University of North Carolina School of the Arts (Chapel Hill, NC (US)) in January 2014.

    Interview

Emailed PI resume and cover letter. Followed up within the week for an interview. PI got me up to speed with current projects and asked a few questions regarding my understanding of immunology. Given offer shortly after answering.
