I have been working at VIPKID part-time

    Pros

The children are adorable. The hours are flexible and work really well with my time zone in the UK. It would definitely be harder from an American time zone. The company has a great, welcoming feel to it. There are lots of incentives and opportunities to advance in the company. If you would like to apply, you are welcome to use my referral code: CRYST0259. Please reach out with any questions.

    Cons

You don't always book every slot you open. The time change can be quite extreme in some regions.

    Teacher Interview

    Difficult Interview

    Application

I applied online. The process took 5+ weeks. I interviewed at VIPKID (London, England).

    Interview

Terrible, unfair process. I passed every part of the interview and was constantly receiving gushing feedback. Then, after the second mock class, they told me that I wasn't good enough and deactivated my account. This was after both of my mentors told me I would pass and asked me to buy a headset and lamps before I began teaching. I already have years of online ESL teaching experience and positive reviews from all of my students, so it came as a huge shock. The mentors should not lie and tell teachers how amazing and wonderful they are if in reality, they are lying. VIPKID also expects teachers to invest money into props and expensive equipment in the interview process, which I will never get to use in a teaching situation.
