    I have been working at Version 1 full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    I have been with the company for 2 months now, and what an excellent initial experience! From the initial superb induction day, which was concise and interesting and really good background, and excellent to meet other joiners.

    This has the feel of a very professional and is a highly supportive company to employees. They really understand that people are essential and not just a cost base, people in fact are one of the three pillars of the organisation, and they really follow-through on this.

    From my line manager, to HR, and the project environment, everything appears very top class, and Version 1 are one to watch for the future of consulting, I feel confident, and very happy to be a part of it.

    They are prolific in terms of awards entering and my personal impression is that they are doing this to prove to the market as well as to existing employees that we are valued. The constant communication from the management about where we are going , the values and the three pillars really show how you fit in and why you are important.

    If you get the chance to work here, and there is a lot of opportunity in a n established, growing, successful company, take it!

    Cons

    Haven't seen anything over and above the usual issues with a consulting type role.

    Application

    I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Version 1 (Belfast, Northern Ireland) in September 2014.

    Interview

    The hiring process at Version 1 was professional but had a very relaxed feel throughout which really put me at ease. Dealing with the recruitment specialist via email was straightforward and the interviews were discussions about my my current skill-set and my aspirations rather than trying to catch me out with awkward questions. Version 1 have core values which are guidelines to make the company a great place to work and also to ensure that they ensure their customers are satisfied, and it is clear even from the application process that everyone follows these values.

    Interview Questions

    • I was asked about a time when someone tried to redesign or better a solution I designed, this is something that has no doubt happened in the past but it was not a question I was prepared for and therefore as not able to provide any real answer.   Answer Question

    Negotiation

    the negotiation phase was very straightforward, I was asked about my notice period and salary expectations, Version 1 fully understood that I may have had to work 3 months notice and made me a generous salary offer within the range I asked for. I also told the recruitment team about holiday days I needed this year and next year and they responded quickly to tell me it wasn't a problem.
