Yodel – Why Work For Us?

undefined

At Yodel, we’re delivering so much more than a parcel. It’s an item that could mean the world to someone – or even change their world in an instant. That’s what we love about what we do. We understand the importance of our work. And we know how crucial it is to deliver the very best experience possible – for our customers, as well as our colleagues.

Talking of our colleagues, we’ve a talented and driven bunch of dedicated people working with us to take to us where we want to be – and that’s why we do everything we can to give them something back in return. Thanks to them, we’re going places. We’ve made a lot of changes around here and are more excited by our future now than ever before.

Join us. We’re sure you’ll love it as much as we do.

There’s no better way to find out what it’s like to work here than by talking with our people – the people who already do the job every day. So, let us introduce you to a few members of the team. You never know, soon you might be working with some of them.

We’ve asked them to give you a quick insight into what life at Yodel is all about for them.

Career Progression

"It’s my ambition to progress into a regional role. Or, I could make a sideways move across the company to help take Yodel forward in a different way. Its great that I’ve got the opportunity to do that here."

Rewards

"I’ve seen Yodel adapt and change massively over the last few years and I really do believe in the company we’ve become. I work within an amazing team and get brilliant support from all departments and my line manager too. I love that."

Supporting Yodel Colleagues

The Yodel Foundation has been running since January 2014, born out of our desire to raise money for charity and offer our colleagues support should they ever find themselves in need.

The Yodel Foundation covers three main areas:

  • Macmillan Cancer Support – Macmillan Cancer Support has been chosen by our colleagues as our nominated charity. We regularly take part in fundraising events in aid of Macmillan, including the Macmillan Coffee Morning, Christmas Jumper Day, and the Tour Ride cycling event. So far, we have raised over £8,000 for the charity.
  • Retail Trust – The Trust is a confidential support system offering retail workers hardship loans and advice. It also includes a counselling helpline for personal crises such as divorce, sickness, bereavement, and marriage guidance.
  • Yodel Distress Fund – The Fund was set up to assist our colleagues when they find themselves in need. For example, when one of our employees had her home destroyed by fire – a very stressful time for her and her family – the Yodel Distress Fund donated £2,500 to help them towards a new home.

The Yodel Foundation is continuing to grow and we have big plans to extend the services we offer and increase the work we do with our chosen charity.

“The Yodel Distress Fund really helped me in my time of need. I felt extremely grateful and fully supported by my team and the wider Yodel community. The money helped me re-furnish my house and helped me get back on my feet quickly.”

TERESA DEW, YODEL.

Change where you are. Not who you are.

When you leave military service, a lot changes. But at Yodel, we want to make that transition as smooth as possible. That’s because we know that some things definitely won’t have changed– like taking pride in your work, being passionate and wanting to be the best. All things we look for, and reward, here at Yodel.

As one of the UK’s largest delivery companies, we’re looking for more ex-service people like you to join us in our Driving, HR, IT, Business, Finance, Engineering, Operations and Warehouse teams.

With a full induction, support and security, we’ll help you to feel settled. Without you having to settle for anything less than a job you love.

If you like what you’ve heard and seen so far and have made it to this page – great! It means you’re ready to apply.

To get started, search for a role on our job search pages and click Apply now’ when you find the job that’s right for you.

What happens next really depends on which job you’re applying for. For some of them, you’ll need to fill in an online application form. For others, you might need to upload your CV and a covering letter.

Then, if you get through that stage, you can expect to take part in a telephone interview, a face-to-face interview, or be asked to come and meet us at one of our assessment days. You may even be asked back for a second or third interview.

As part of our process, we’ll always check your entitlement to work. And, for some roles, we may carry out some personal vetting checks too, usually involving DVLA, identity checks or bank verification checks.

For more specialist roles, like HGV Drivers, for example, you’ll likely be asked to undergo practical and written assessments to make sure you’re up to the task. It really does all depend on the job you’re applying for – there are so many to choose from, we simply couldn’t go into detail on all of them here!

Advice and tips

Of course, when it comes to interviews, you’ll be expected to dress appropriately, turn up on time and do your homework – but it’s also essential that you produce all the relevant paperwork we ask you to bring, particularly when it comes to things like having your driving licence with you.

We’ll always let you know what you need to bring along, but we can’t stress how important it is that you come prepared!

And finally, if you’re thinking of applying to be one of our self-employed suppliers, it’s absolutely vital that you check out all the implications of what it means to be self-employed before you apply.

Now it’s over to you – good luck!

The process took around 1 week.
Good structured interview with relevant questions.
Good feedback and even though I was offered the role, they also suggested how I could have improved on my answers, which I really liked
