Better learn from others' experience!

Pros

Average pay and benefits; Everything is seemingly rushed but actually takes forever! (Gives you enough time to NOT stress over it as it will go round and round in circles for tens of times before seeing the light of day and usually end up with the prime time of the task having passed which is true for the company as well... Unless you get stressed by seeing it go around!)

Cons

This place has nothing aligned with any business logic or text except being the epitome of "the inherent eccentricities of a Family owned business"... Nanomanagement at its peak (yes, micromanagement is better); no direction (except south!); no growth; no empowerment; no appreciation of skill, knowledge and talent; no vision, no strategy, only task execution and that too in a playing by ear fashion... huge amounts of time wasted in meetings... sometimes 3-4 hours a day for weeks!!! Meetings mostly comprise of a monologue that mostly veers off topic in its 30th second... and to top it all, you'll be asked the next morning what you achieved the previous day and your plans for the day, and just when you've finished sharing your plan for the day, you will be called into a meeting that - you guessed it: takes up the remaining part of the day! There is no professionalism, no regard of anyone's time... anyone will barge in to your 'space' anytime or call you in for a meeting regardless of what you are doing... people will quietly snoop behind you to see what you are working on and then step up to ask you very specific questions about it. Management is constantly in the way of any progressive initiative by employees... not a good place for new talent... good for nearly retired people... management constantly wants to 'go back to the way they did things because it worked' (worked in the 80's, & 90's mind you)... they'd rather not move forward... consultants come and go... only the more agreeable ones survive longer than rational ones... those who try to rectify the wrong practices are shown the door... any other request to consider improving the working environment will be met with an "it is what it is" response. No information of the company's progress / standing in the industry is ever shared except that it's debt free, which is because of the current customer base that the company acquired at its prime time ... new sales are zero because now the market knows... customers are stuck but change to other packages at the first available opportunity... company has claimed since eternity of being 65 strong whereas people are leaving the company like anything... the last 3 months saw 4 people quit... company has had to recall its former employees to make up for staff shortage... they probably don't even have 50 employees...

Good for developers early in their career

Pros

This place is a fine place to start your career, still solid developers exist on the team that are great mentors.

Cons

Get out before it sucks out your soul, the pay is terrible and won't get much better (unless you quit and then they will attempt to retain you), most of management is completely inept, the ones that aren't have no cache within the company (not family members). Culture is next to non-existent, the development/release process is a complete mess with no hope of change on the horizon. There are much better places for you to work in the area if you are even a remotely competent developer.

Thank you for sharing your opinions. While no company enjoys reading such hurtful comments, there is always a modicum of reality that we will heed. Without specific details, we can only keep working on our areas of opportunity and hope that you have landed in an environment that brings you the challenge, satisfaction and growth you seek.

Decent work separated by vast amounts of inattention

Pros

The company has a friendly work environment and is conducive to continual self-learning . Middle management is very flexible with real-life conflicts and vacation time bookings. Co-workers are patient and open to discussion over project work. Solid benefits.

Cons

No room for upward growth. Positions are underpaid compared to area average. Extremely low morale among low-level employees. Upper management is directionless and far removed from reality. CEO wastes dollar after dollar on unwanted consultants whose ideas are never even implemented and then claims there is no money for raises or bonuses. Management teams spend more time in needless meetings than at their own desks. Employees are ignored by middle management due to time-wasting meetings combined with over-worked managers. Projects are assigned based on the "squeaky wheel" factor from clients instead of on the basis of efficiency and stability. CEO and wife trawl the office looking over shoulders instead of doing their own job.
