    I worked at ADT Security Services full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    Pay is okay, they spent a lot of money on training their sales people.

    Cons

    When I started I thought WOW this company really wants its employees to succeed. They sent us to training in Denver for 10 days! It was only sales training which I already had 8 years experience. They did little to no product training, which is very important because you are supposed to be securing peoples homes and businesses.

    I have been working at ADT Security Services full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

    Good people for the'most part. Sales team is very good. If you work hard they treat you very good.

    Cons

    Ops/Installation!! You work hard building a relationship and sometimes it seems like install is in the twilight zone collecting their paycheck.

    Advice to Management

    Hold the installation and service dept to high standards. Would make this place a very good company to work for. Also stope changing philosophies every year and stick to one.

    I have been working at ADT Security Services full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

    In the day the medical benefits were great! They saved our bacon. The opportunity to gain product knowledge is unparalleled.

    Cons

    Policies change just about every quarter. The strategic business planning and subsequent execution is about 15 years behind.

    Advice to Management

    Get rid of the "just in time" inventory control. It is grinding your company into powder under your feet. Keep a basic buffer inventory in place, morale will go up for everyone and jobs will not drag on. Get a vision that truly inspires rather than insults. Avoid incentive icons that involve kneeling at the altar of ADT. And, who relates to the Spartans? Didn't they become extinct? If you're going to have sales...

    Great benefits, great sales people around me. Training is awesome.

    Cons

    I watched Resi and Small business come and go like a cattle drive with good people. Might as well hang up a revolving door. Core Commercial had awesome sales people that were treated like mules pulling a plow. If you're an old timer with referrals and their advertising call ins you'll make it but it's the lowest moral i've ever seen anywhere. Be prepared to drive 60 plus miles for a door contact.     Advice to Management

    Train managers in modern day management techniques. Forget the WWII POW method of shooting one to scare the rest into submission. Let the sales people dig into a territory for referral base and customer comfort for repeat business. Stop the managers from making their sales people build quotes that don't exist (pencil whipping) just to pad the numbers for their up line bosses.

    Pros

    Benefits are good, you can transfer almost anywhere after one year. Has a great reputation, gets you in the door.

    Cons

    The internal workings hurt the Sales force. I have never worked in a company that treats the Sales force like step children. The base salary is insane for the amount of work you have to put in to get anywhere near Quota. The Sales force has to design the system, make the floorplan, collect the money, make sure the equipment is ordered in a timely manner, make sure installation goes there in a timely manner.     Advice to Management

    Start paying your employees what their worth. Stop spending all your time having webcasts that are inane. Stop putting up roadblocks. Learn how to treat a Sales force.

    Name recognition, although primarily geared toward residential, creates wrong perception that all we do is residential.

    Cons

    Low pay. Promote sales people from Small Business to manage Commercial team, therefore they cannot help anyone with anything. IT cannot integrate all of their systems due to disparate software systems required by many acquisitions. Basically, you waste valuable time in front of a computer instead of customers.     Advice to Management

    Separate sales from estimating. Create estimator positions so sales can focus on field sales and not be mired down in the antiquated systems you have. Stop promoting by attrition, unqualified people that can't impact a unit they have no previous success in. Could be a great company but maybe we are too big and bloated like the federal government to fix anything.

    Pros

    name recognition, it's a job, regular paycheck, better than average benefits. Hands off management which allows freedom but lacks support/

    Cons

    no support from management, treat employee's as disposable. No training in product or internal proceedures. Your on your own with no recognition for a job well done but plenty of criticism for anything wrong.

    Advice to Management

    need new employee product training as well as printed proceedures about how to work through the system. Legal department needed for review of contracts is complacent.

    I worked at ADT Security Services

    Pros

    Good training, good co workers. There are some people who will help no matter what the situation. These are also individuals that know you are getting a raw deal as they somehow worked their way through the rookie process.

    Cons

    Jobs are hard to come by and too complicated to put together without the help of someone more experienced - which means you'll have to split the commission with the senior rep.

    Advice to Management

    Tell candidates the truth about the job instead of hoodwinking people into the position. Spend some money to pay people to qualify leads instead of requiring reps to do it all - Hunt, Kill, Cook, etc. It takes way too much time to to create proposals in Compass. Cold calling to find customers should be a job all by itself.

    they are the leader in the industry,

    way too many to list. 60+hour/ week job, unorganized, working 2 jobs in 1 but getting paid 1/2 of 1 job. 8 out of 10 customers is miserable,

    hire people who have prior experience in the industry to manage.

    Long leash for sales reps Great commission percentages if small upgrade jobs/service problems didn't get in your way

    Cons

    LOW base salary 30-40k for commercial reps A lot of red tape/paperwork to quote and submit jobs
