    Advice to Management

Stop brainwashing colleagues and managers and focus on the wellbeing of them.. you are putting far too much pressure on them which is resulting in poor performance and negative atmosphere

I worked at ASDA part-time for less than a year

    Pros

its money at the end of the day

    Cons

Overwork you all the time, clear favouritism by the line managers. If you're new they try and get you to do everything at once. The job was ALWAYS understaffed and you were always asked to stay on (usually not added to pay)

I have been working at ASDA part-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

The rate of pay is above minimum/ living wage. Colleague discount and comprehensive 3rd party benefits packages including discounts with various retailers, holiday sites and car finance. Options to advance your career to management and gain qualifications through the apprenticeship program.

    Cons

Can be a very stressful environment, often overstretched and under staffed. Management isn't perfect, will hold colleague meetings but rarely implement changes colleagues put forward and they agree to. Very often a lack of any proper training or communication when new products, procedures and equipment is implemented. Low morale among colleagues due to management practices like lack of recognition and appreciation.

    Advice to Management

Listen to the colleagues more, morale isn't great. It's one thing holding meetings to find out where improvements are needed and it's another actually implementing the changes. For the several years I have been here colleague voice surveys have shown management to be the key issue with morale yet nothing changes. Recognition and appreciation is sorely needed, many colleagues constantly work their hardest to ensure... targets are met yet they often don't receive any appreciation. In the canteen there are remnants of the colleague of the month awards which haven't been awarded since before I started my employment, the star point system is especially under used. We know each store is allocated X amount of star points and know the management have so long to issue them before they expire. It is rare that anyone receives them, and if they do it's the same people time after time. People work harder when their work is appreciated.

Decent part-time wage. Nice enough with alterations to hours upon request but obviously dependent on management.

Old equipment. Inefficient, dated methods. Long hours.
