      Pros

Good location, good canteen with subsidy

      Cons

Poor work-life balance, request for flexible working was rejected because of "business strain" (team had been understaffed for a long time), full of inefficiency, management does not have clear direction, unhappy workforce.

      Pros

Dynamic approach to covering insurance risk. Very good people in most areas. Good work-life balance. Remuneration Package excellent.

      Cons

Too many 'initiatives' that are just sound-bytes with imaginary benefits. Recent cost-cutting necessary but has gone too far. Focus (and budget) on the shiny new stuff while the foundations get a bit crumbly. IT too busy counting the beans to worry about the Business!

      Pros

The restaurant, the benefits and location in London. Nice offices, people are generally approachable. Work life balance is generally okay.

      Cons

Poor leadership, low morale within teams. Teams work in silos. Company going through merger, and forgetting the reason why they purchased Catlin! ( people!) . Too US focused, XL doesn't care about the people. Communication is poor from management. Wouldn't recommend as a place to work. Ashame the Catlin office is changing its previously plush offices to the XL way!

      Pros

Excellent work life balance Global team and therefore lots of exposure

      Cons

Like other jobs, if your manager doesn't know how to manage or is a first time people manager, you will struggle to get any decent work.

      Pros

Beautiful office. Great benefits - free lunch or annual gym membership, coffee bar and health insurance. Friendly atmosphere. Good pay. Amazing work/life balance - the majority of the office leaves at 5pm.

      Cons

Career progression can be challenging. Work can be repetitive.

      Pros

Nice enough people. Same as in any organization. Some good, some bad. Nice canteen. Good support staff.

      Cons

No real upward career prospects. Lots of empire building by established middle management with no real thought for the troops on the ground and what they want to achieve in the future. Lots of rhetoric, not so much action. Attitude to work life balance from XL side poor. Attitude to flexible working is very poor. Attitude to appraisals by management poor. This isn't for want of trying by senior management.
