I worked at AbbVie full-time (More than 3 years)
Pros
Supportive culture, focus on improving company through improving team working, recognising strengths and weaknesses, how best to work with colleagues, good opportunities for improving skills. Embedding patient centricity as core to all decisions, innovative thinking rewarded.
Cons
As in all Pharma, can be some red tape to get through when trying to make changes e.g. implementing digital campaigns, but this is definitely improving.

I worked at AbbVie full-time (More than 10 years)
Pros
Good package but not worth the bullying culture, I am struggling with cons other than they have good products and really good sales people shame they can’t retain them
Cons
Bullying culture and ineffective management , if your face fits culture . Horrendous management with zero people skills which was reflected in the GPTW survey
Advice to Management
Stop the if your face fits culture and stop managing out good employees

I worked at AbbVie full-time (More than 3 years)
Pros
New to industry opportunities and you get to work with some incredible people in a fast paced environment.
Cons
I refused to sign off an inappropriate brand campaign, which could harm patients and was subsequently managed out of my role, despite being the therapy area expert for years. Money is more important to this company then patients and they'll happily bleed communities dry to improve their sales. The culture is a hierarchy of power with fear and intimidation for those who question why or just say no. It's a miserable life and you will get bullied.
Advice to Management
Whistleblower process and protection.

I worked at AbbVie full-time (More than a year)
Pros
There aren't many pros except for the fact that they have deep pockets for resources.
Cons
Bureaucracy limits what can be done.
Morale is poor as management have started to performance manage the staff in preparation of losing its key product patent.
Very process and task driven, little effort is made to look after its people.
Advice to Management
Culture, certainly in the UK affiliate needs to drastically change.
I have been working at AbbVie full-time
Pros
Patients really at the heart of everything. Some great people working to keep AbbVie ahead of the game.
Cons
Not always agile - sometimes a bit bureaucratic
Advice to Management
Continue to trust you have good people and expertise around you.
I worked at AbbVie full-time (More than 8 years)
Pros
Consistently achieves great place to work accolades top Irish Pharma companies
Cons
Alot of travel required for certain jobs
I have been working at AbbVie full-time (More than 10 years)
Pros
Good working environment.
Huge transformation in working culture in the last 3-years.
Definitely on the right track but LOE on big product to manage.
Cons
Losing the U.K. GM was a MASSIVE loss to Abbvie.
If the company are really serious about having the top leadership talent on board, he should never have been allowed to leave Abbvie...
Advice to Management
Ensure you don't lose our best people!!!

I worked at AbbVie full-time (More than 8 years)
Pros
Great people across the affiliate
Truly trying to put the patient at the centre of everything they do
Great UK Office - inspires creativity and innovation
Cons
Horrendous work life balance for certain functions that just was not ever acknowleged or addressed
Promotions go to the wrong people and regularly are just announced without being advertised internally
Not agile despite trying to shed previous Abbott "big pharma" roots - too many layers of process and decision makeing to get even the smallest things done
Advice to Management
Challenge directors and senior managers to really invest in developing people. I regularly did not have managers taking any interest in my development for year-long periods. Does not make you feel valued.
Better diagnose the work-life balance issues in certain functions and address this with increased headcount
Take interest in why long-servers are leaving. I worked for Abbott/Abbvie for more than 8 years and didnt even have a leavers discussion/interview

I worked at AbbVie (More than 5 years)
Pros
Blockbuster drug, strong pipeline, some highly-skilled and experienced employees, great office and canteen, attractive pension scheme (final-salary for existing employees only), private healthcare, well-staffed and resourced, great IT equipment provided.
Cons
Far too many egos, too much bureaucracy, unfair pay, poor bonus potential, mid-level management not great, lack-of transparency, people 'disappear' with no explanation!
Advice to Management
More fairness and consistency in financial reward and pay. Be transparent with people on the ground and listen to them. Get rid of the 'dead wood' that is dragging down the culture and address the 'big egos' that are halting innovation and growth.
