I am seeing company's growth here and they are undertaking some cutting edge projects. I am seeing good opportunity for learning and developing new things.

I worked at Absolutdata full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Some decent projects here and there. Very high job security to the point of being detrimental. Salaries always on time.

    Cons

Absolutely Muddled vision. Broken sales process. Internal politics galore. Brown nosing culture. Employee unfriendly policies. Most important - Total Inability to capitalize on any long term engagement and build industry specific capabilities. Absolutdata aren't industry leaders in anything else besides being blind to reality. Most of the people in the firm can't even handle and apply basic statistics, yet the... talk of advanced analytics/ML/AI/Big data is rampant. Senior management's need to appear Cool and use industry buzzwords far outweighs the actual investment and strategy execution into the company. The ELT team is an absolut-joke, the entire employee pool has no idea what is going on with this team. PLs are under no pressure to create any new service offerings, there are no planning exercises, appraisal discussions and planning are always last minute. What value add do PLs bring? None of them even have industry wide credentials - so nobody on the floor understands why they've been made PLs besides their stellar brown nosing abilities. My PL could barely speak english, could only mumble half baked theory and was one of the cheapest people alive - despite drawing a 65+LPA salary. For example, one of the largest dedicated client team in CRM is a pure play reporting team for a hospitality giant with over 5 years of traction and till date, they haven't been able to create an end to end hospitality analytics offering despite having access to the entirety of the client database - yet they talk a big game. Similarly, in research team also the single largest client is a dedicated team for a FMCG major and yet they've been doing the very same thing day in and day out without moving up the value chain. In the third so called "analytics" practice, the offering remains OLS driven MMM which the the client base considers defunct/obsolete, but the organization touts this as an end to end MMM solution that ONLY uses OLS to create models. It was confusing to me that in 2018 (a couple of years after Fractal/MuSigma/Accenture have moved onto to different types of modeling), this super outdated version of MMM was automated with some visuals and that team went around hyping this "product" as some sort of godsend. Great you automated something that was needed in 2014. Good job, amazing investment of resources. Now the technology services team is by far the most unnecessary team in the firm. The practice has been talking about a chatbot since early 2018, we're in 2019 now, that chatbot will possibly be ready in 2278. But there will be an extensive sales pitch ready and is presented in such a fashion as if the company has deep expertise in it. And now the products team, just wow. Seeing them create automated dashboards with hardcoded backends that needs manual intervention everytime something goes wrong - what AI, what advanced ML, astounding right? More like outstanding - You should stand outside when all of this comes crashing down. The sales process is just so ineffective here. I do not know what the sales managers do for 9 hours a day here. Every other services oriented analytics company has moved onto a hybrid model wherein delivery managers are supposed to do sales but the quality of both delivery managers within Absolutdata and the account managers here are just so subpar. A majority of delivery managers can't even have a coherent conversation in english with the clients and the sales managers 11/10 end up misunderstanding, under pricing, over committing and mis-representing when signing clients just to meet targets. Total distrust between sales and delivery in this firm and its obvious that often the account managers are in the wrong, but they're never taken to task. Instead the responsibility falls on delivery's shoulders when we realize the sales managers are just idiots. They have an EWS system in place which leads to a lot of meetings with their quality team, and the sales manager etc but never any real resolution. Lastly, the HR policies apparently comes from the founders directly. It is very apparent they've forgotten what it was to be an employee - no surprise there as almost 95% of the floor has more actual work experience working for others. The surprising thing is when you speak to them 1-1, they seem almost normal. But the dismal execution of vision/strategy/planning/policies and their almost stubborn arrogance at not acknowledging when things go wrong and the band-aid mentality just seems so out of place in this day and age. The simplest thing - Making people sit in office for 9 hours doesn't really increase productivity - even visionaries like google/microsoft/dell/intel/facebook all having moved away from physical presence in office to an employee engagement model wherein the employee is engaged for 9 hours a day with built in mechanisms in place to track productivity. This firm doubled down on this policy with gross insistence on being in office - all in the name of passion, what a joke. The employee attrition is at an all time high, but I don't think they care anymore. This firm just reeks of mediocrity from top to bottom - especially at the top. You want to succeed here, learn to play politics and you'll go really far within this company. It's just that this company might not get too far itself. Truly smart people left this place a long time ago. Current middle management and above is atrocious with the standards of entry level hiring also falling really fast. It's the best place to join if you honestly want to do nothing significant and still get paid to show up.

    Advice to Management

Doesn't matter. Your company, do what you're currently doing and run it into the ground. It's just really in a messed up shape right now. If you want to fix it, you need to be open to seeing problems. Instead of having this mentality of "making do" with mediocre people.

I have been working at Absolutdata full-time for less than a year

    Pros

As an organization which is still in a transformation phase, this company is doing some great things in terms of exposure and learning opportunities. Suitable for young professionals to explore the world of analytics and yet grow at their own pace. Overall open culture and positive environment. They seem to value home-grown talent.

    Cons

Certain employee policies are out-dated. Not much focus on cutting edge R&D. Office premise is DULL.

    Advice to Management

Need more R&D on AI/ML, listen to those who are on ground, revisit HR policies
