    Positive Outlook

I worked at Agence Française de Développement full-time for more than a year

    Pros

AFD is a public development finance institution that has been working to fight poverty and foster economic growth in developing -> job's purpose is challenging

    Cons

    - network is very important if you want to get promotions or a more interested job - people have comfortable jobs in a huge organization where no one is really in charge, sometimes inertia & caution can ruin o project (I think it is a problem of a lot of organization)

Project Officer in Rio Branco, Acre, Acre

I have been working at Agence Française de Développement for more than a year

    Pros

Working with a wide range of stakeholders (local authorities, government, private companies, NGO, consultants). Good job to have a holistic view of a sector, in terms of politics, strategies, projects, actors... Good professional / private balance.

    Cons

Management : Self-centred managers thinking more of their own careers than the team spirit, making unfair decisions. Consideration of people according their status. Poor sense of responsibilities. Career : Depending on your relations rather than your willingness to work and your competencies.

I have been working at Agence Française de Développement full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Good exposure, and a diverse working environment. Opportunity for training trips in Paris. Strengthens contacts with other donors and key positions in the government.

    Cons

For locally employed staff, they are so underpaid with no opportunity whatsoever for growth. Process is very slow and bureaucratic. Working hours are not human and overtime is not paid. Authority and decision making is always given to the head office, with so little space of leadership on the ground.
