Great people, Great opportunities, Kafkaesque Bureaucracy

      Pros

Anecdotally, the people are fantastic and autonomy in research is given to the individual. There are ample opportunities to extend into new technical areas, develop programmatic, management, and corporation related financial skills and relationships at an early career age. Work-life balance has the potential of being ok.

      Cons

Mired in bureaucracy which hamstrings the cutting edge research to be outsourced to contractors. Pay is not commensurate with alternative options. Zeitgeist of complacency looms.

      Pros

At AFRL we work on some technologies that are truly at the forefront of innovation trying to solve some of the daunting challenges facing the Air Force today. There is lots of opportunity for those who are motivated to broaden their expertise and pursue new projects aligned with the Air Force mission. Great work life balance.

      Cons

Lots of bureaucracy, IT infrastructure is slow and frustrating, and it is difficult to get even the best technologies transitioned to a user.
