I worked at Air New Zealand

    Pros

The people - from the very top downwards - and the product. Great communication from senior team at HQ down to the regions, despite the challenges with time zones

    Cons

I honestly can’t think of any.. I have nothing but good memories of my time there. Would recommend Air NZ to anyone

    Advice to Management

I worked at Air New Zealand full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

--well established business and operational system --very heavy profit focused and shareholder focused --excellent in building reputation and image

    Cons

--It is all about PROFIT! --The management will do anything to achieve the highest profit for the sake of their owe benefit and career advancement. --Constantly cutting back on work's wages, working conditions and benefits. --Creating toxic workplace culture within different divisions. --Poor business decisions made based on profit making which undermined the well being of the employees and the integrity... of the business in a long run. --Upper management is only good at talk the talk and lack of care and sympathy towards their employees.

    Advice to Management

--Invest in your workers! Cutting their wages and conditions is not the right way to increase profit! --Respect your senior employees whose experience, knowledges and passion are invaluable! They are your assets not costs! --Start building an inclusive and caring company culture! --For the senior managers, get out of your comfortable office and go to the frontline to have a real feel of the real world and... challenges your workers have to face--it is not only good for your decision making but also good for your personal development to be a better being!

I worked at Air New Zealand full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Great brand, crew are mostly fantastic, people have real passion for the company.

    Cons

Naive management in Auckland let offshore regions (specifically London) run almost entirely unchecked, promoting inexperienced internal candidates out of a mixture of fear and laziness. The result is a toxic culture where you do well if you comply unquestioningly with whatever the latest stupid idea is, with dissenters brutally sacked, restructured out or marginalised until they quit.

    Advice to Management

Open your eyes and see that there’s a total lack of control of offshore regions. Review the perks that your kiwis on secondment abroad get, unless the NZ herald gets there before you!
