    Pros

Great culture, good teamwork ethics, hot on HSE, knowledgeable academics and professional scientists who can also maintain a fun and caring atmosphere, interesting work, possibility for internal moves

    Cons

Not as well paid as some - slow to introduce London weighting, can be a bit procedure-driven, money-saving can cause inefficiencies.

    Positive Outlook

I have been working at Akzo Nobel Worldwide full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Given real responsibility and the opportunity to interact with a range of functions within the business. Treated like any other employee once established in the team.

    Cons

Sometimes the work is quite specific, so may not cover many topics of a degree course, however this will likely be common in many placements.

    Approves of CEO

I worked at Akzo Nobel Worldwide full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Great culture, flexible working hours, nice atmosphere and behaviour, (some) knowledgeable managers, good honest working people at the lower levels, generally you feel you are being heard and occasionally rewarded for your hard work.

    Cons

Complex processes, sometimes losing the bigger picture, very often changing focus and priorities, not always meritocracy, some managers were difficult to work with, not always assigning full responsibility over actions and duties.

    Negative Outlook
    No Opinion of CEO

I have been working at Akzo Nobel Worldwide full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Work life balance Employee benefits are generally good Colleagues are fantastic Take health and safety very seriously (one of the company values) Invest heavily in charity/charitable events Own a lot of well known brands and products are high quality Some good product innovation in recent years despite stagnant market conditions

    Cons

Local decisions contradict corporate strategy which puts departments at heads with one another Too much bureaucracy Too much control desired by Amsterdam without understanding local operations Current 15 by 20 strategy is short-sighted as we appear to be embarking on a penny-wise, pound foolish culture e.g. getting rid of experienced heads, bringing in less experienced (cheaper) heads and then allowing poor decisions (costly) to be made Bonus is non-existent for the past few years - local support function bonuses are tied to global performance which is totally stupid as sales and marketing counterparts are not HR may as well be a robotic chat bot as they are nigh on useless on most matters A lot of reactionary thinking and not enough pro-activeness - 15 by 20 is a perfect example of this as it only came about after the PPG bid.
