"Poorly runned HQ"

Doesn't RecommendNegative OutlookNo Opinion of CEOI worked at Alexis Bittar full-time for more than a year
Pros
Significant employee allowance and store discount for HQ employees, fun coworkers that had passion for the brand, and hard working design team.
Cons
Almost all directors, Sr level and managers lack actual management skills, or industry experience needed for their positions. Many have only worked at AB their entire careers. The company culture and mentality of "We have always done it this way". Extremely long hours for all the reports, and most of the time given little to no notice for working weekends, especially in design and PD departments, but you were expected to no questions. Absolutely no work-life balance. No room for growth career-wise, the name may look good on your resume, but don't expect to grow with in the company. Quality of the product has diminished and lost brand identity trying to please everyone.

Pros
Great co workers. There is incredible talent in this company it's too bad the company cannot afford to keep people.
Cons
Terrible fear instilled management. No structure, titles do not match work load and poor compensation. There is no work life balance. I worked on the retail side. Lack of bill pay for services like Quill and UPS due to the company expanding rapidly are a common problems. There were times when paychecks were not deposited because of the company's lack of funds. Their non competitive compensation and benefit structure are red flags from the get go. Management lacks professionalism and is never questioned. Quality is always an issue and sales associates are expected to lie and promote product being made in Brooklyn when shipments of new product arrive in clearly marked "made in China" bags. HR is unprofessional and lacks refinement. The production studio in Brooklyn is a mini sweat shop full of illegal immigrants working for the hope of a "pizza party and free electronics" at the end of the year.

"Discouraging place to work"

Doesn't RecommendNegative OutlookDisapproves of CEOI worked at Alexis Bittar full-time
Pros
Location. Interesting and talented peers.
Cons
The inner workings of this company are a massive mess. Across all corporate departments, employees are unclear of their responsibilities and roles. Deadlines are unrealistic and employees are expected to work all hours of the night to compensate. The company culture is pro slave labor. There is no work life balance, you will have three meals a day at your desk. During my time there, I worked 70-80 hours weeks the majority of the year and 65 hour weeks during "slow season". There is no learning or growth opportunity because senior employees and directors are just making it up as they go along. The CEO is aloof, detached, unorganized and indecisive; attitudes that trickle down the ladder creating a sour work environment. Alexis Bittar used to be a great name to have on your resume, but now it is common industry knowledge this place is a revolving door. There is nothing positive to be gained from working here.
