I worked at Amazon as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

Free coffee in vending machine, can watch TV during break

    Cons

We workers are treated as slaves. If you become sick in work place and have to leave due to sickness, you will not get paid for rest of the hours of the shift. Have to work seriously like insane. No career prospect.

    Advice to Management

The management team should treat the workers as human beings. They should make policy that workers can get payment for remaining hours of the shift when they become sick in work place.

I worked at Amazon full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

At least 40hours a week; sometimes more like 60+

    Cons

typical american sweatshop. work employees to the bone. 14+hour shifts; overnight; struggling to stay awake. unrealistic targets - pick 30-40+ items an hour when they are located all over the warehouse. awful recruitment "hire and fire" revolving door and using corrupt 3rd party agencies (PNP recruitment/Transline) to do their dirty work. Dont work here. This company deserves to go bust.

    Advice to Management

    stop treating employees like slaves.

    I worked at Amazon full-time

    Pros

    In house cherry picker training

    Cons

Worked there some time ago, but from what I've read it hasn't changed much.
In terms of the days structure the bare minimum breaks are given (30 mins in 8 hours). Not only this the break in actual fact only lasted 20 mins due to the queues at the metal detectors which you need to go in and out of every break. The target system where items were scanned was a joke as people could freely make up targets as they saw fit, making those who actually scanned a truthful number look like loafers. There is no sense of team work within the warehouse, once a colleague requested my help with something so I proceeded to help them in their area for 10 mins. After this another colleague reported that my numbers were low and called a manager over. I then posed a question to the manager asking whether we are expected to ignore our colleagues when they request assistance in favor of our own pick numbers. He was unable to answer this question, and the whole situation was just ridiculous.

In all it's a place that exploited its workers in every way that it could, a place where people will throw you to the management for any old reason in order to further themselves. After my experience here , Amazon.com is now my last choice in ordering online goods.

    Cons

Some of the trainers think they are the boss and try to bully you, some of the managers are arrogant and not very nice, tell you overtime is compulsory and if you don't do it you will be sacked

    Advice to Management

treat your staff a bit better and don't force them to do overtime, especially when you want them do 5 11hr nightshifts in row
