    Pros

    Many resources maid available to help run your business. Peers were available to teach me the ropes of running a business. Management cared about people.

    Cons

    Not enough travel. Wish we had meetings in other states more.

    Pros

    Plethora of resources for agency management and products.

    Cons

    Agents do not own their book of business. Corporate dictates what happens to the book if an agent retires, resigns or is fired.

    My customers and being a independent

    Cons

    I felt that they spent too much on higher management, events and not very well structured ideas that would cost the policy holders higher premium to support.

    Although you are technically an independent contractor it feels like you are an employee having to attend too many meetings.

    I have been working at American Family Insurance full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

    I am my own boss. Unlimited earning potential. I choose the people I work with. Flexibility. Great income. Great place for good salespeople. Great financing program to get agents started. A great place for working mothers. Limited management if you are doing your job. Sales management has really helped me to build my business. Great opportunities to quickly grow your agency. Through Agency Council, top management listens to agents and quickly makes changes as needed. Claims and agents work together to provide a great experience to clients. Client satisfaction is very important to everyone.

    Cons

    It can be hard to be the face of the company to my clients yet not have control over what the company is doing. Can lead to some tough conversations. Managing CSRs can be challenging. If you don't have prior business management experience, being an agent could be more than you can handle. You are a business owner so come prepared. If you want a job where the company takes care of you, then don't become an agent. Becoming an agent means you're starting your own company. You are the one taking care of your team. If you're not good at self managing your time and efforts, you could fail.

    Great potential for future income if you can survive long enough to earn an agency. Freedom to run your business your way.

    Cons

    Training program is terribly inadequate and doesn't actually help you become a strong salesman or business owner. Unrealistic sales and performance goals.

    Good staff, rates are a bit higher on auto insurance but better customer service over competitors. Sally had a little lamb

    Dont get paid well, and there is a 20 word minimum that i am trying to reach, damnit glassdoor, finally.
