I have been working at Anglian Water full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The flexibility, good work-life balance, the opportunities to progress. I have worked with some lovely people which has really made my time in the company great.

    Cons

Stressful environment, poor communication especially with hr and new prospect roles.. went for an internal interview and after chasing hr a couple of times who promised to give me an update, they still never got back to me.

    Advice to Management

I've had positive and negative experiences.. I think all need to take on board the pressure that mounts at times and support their staff more.

I have been working at Anglian Water full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Anglian Water Business is a customer oriented company searching for the best ways to fulfill customers need. They have a variety of benefits, excellent salary, lots of opportunities to grow. The company appreciates what you do. Great teams all over the floor.

    Cons

I would probably only suggest to get a better air conditioning system. :)

    Advice to Management

Keep up with the good work.

I worked at Anglian Water full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Mostly flexible working practices in place throughout the organisation

    Cons

No effective leadership from the management I worked with. No ownership of the development of employees and a culture of 'those who stay the longest get the furthest'. Inefficiency is rife and the inability to get things done was a huge frustration throughout my time there. Not a nice area to live, not a nice place to work and I regret not getting out sooner than I did.

    Advice to Management

Take time to inspire employees and build a better working culture. People are the number one asset to any organisation and although there are company-wide initiatives in place to address their culture issues, they fall well short of what is needed to truly correct the big problems this organisation suffers.

I have been working at Anglian Water full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Excellent company support, additional benefits and growth opportunities

    Cons

Managers are too autonomous and experiences with the company can vary greatly from team to team. Get the right one and it's a great place to work. I have experienced both good and bad

    Advice to Management

Ensure management are following company policies. No good having wellbeing at the heart of the company if random managers are allowed to choose whether or not to apply it

I worked at Anglian Water full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

On the whole a positive place to work, with a few passionate people that will try to assist in your personal development.

    Cons

In the area I worked in there were many people with no passion or direction in their careers, who had come straight from university with the same lack of direction. This culture is cultivated by the lack of opportunity for promotion which means that teams have a number of unprofessional 'hangers-on', whilst competent staff will leave to seek other opportunities.

    Advice to Management

More focus on providing opportunity based on merit, and not just for apprentices/graduates. Listen to the aspirations of staff and communicate better with other areas of the business to provide opportunities for staff that show willingness to improve themselves. From what I saw, AW is very good at taking credit for the individual achievements of its staff, regardless of the company as a whole being involved, followed by a bit of PR spiel in the company newspaper.

    Good progression.

    Cons

Working to so many targets can be stressful.
Quite a lot to learn - takes about a year to feel fully comfortable.

    Advice to Management

Keep supporting employees the way you do.

    Pros

    Great culture
    Knowledgeable teams
A wide variety of skills and people that are willing to share their knowledge
Industry leaders and a culture of continuous improvement

    Cons

Some managers are selfish and bullish
Some internal promotions are based definitely not based on knowledge or skill
    Business strategy not clearly cascaded

    Advice to Management

    More promotion from internally

I worked at Anglian Water full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Approachable members of the leadership team, with some diligent individuals.

    Cons

Some of the FLMs have no idea of how to manage staff. They're knowledgeable in their roles but struggle on an interpersonal level, often showing stress and taking it out on others.

    Advice to Management

Hire managers based on their ability to manage, not on their knowledge of a particular area of the business.
