Pros
good work/life balance, friendly people, dynamic culture
Cons
focus on internal promotions leads to people with a long tenure with the organization and a good network being promoted to mid-management roles without knowing how to lead people and build a team.
1 - 4.029 Nov 2023Product GuideCurrent Employee
Pros
Insanely good discounts on product
Cons
Inconsistent pay scale for employees -- I found out that employees in a different store (same city) with less experience than me were getting paid over 10% more than me.
- 3.03 Nov 2023Product GuideFormer Employee, more than 1 yearSan Francisco, CA
Pros
Good discounts and access to climbing passes/ski season passes as well as other outdoor goods. The team you work with is on the smaller end but builds chemistry and camaraderie. Get to interact with people in the outdoors community often
Cons
Micromanagement and passive aggressiveness as well as lack of empathy and support from management. Often felt like you have to be "walking on eggshells" depending on the mood of the management. Will promise one thing but will end up doing another. Inconsistent hours provided unless you are a full time employee
- 1.016 Sept 2023Store ManagerFormer Employee, more than 5 yearsToronto, ON
Pros
Enjoyable due to lack of oversight and upper management not knowing what they're doing. Generally, traffic is so slow that you can just do whatever you want with all the downtime you'll have. Community budgets are ludicrously high and there is minimal accountability so you can spend money on whatever you want! Horseback riding event? Go for it! Strange trail running event in the middle of nowhere? That's gold baby!!! Anything that has zero ROI is also preferrable.
Cons
Upper management is directionless and clueless. From Regional Manager upwards their is zero development or care for those below them, information is poorly cascaded and will often be redundant or a complete 180 of a prior announcement. Brand is also completely dependent on resellers in the Chinese market yet treats them discriminatorily and their strategy for removing these customers is to jack up the prices in North America.

Cons
None I can think of

Pros
Deals to get cheap gear. Flexible schedule.
Cons
Management at Arc’teryx Market mall is awful. The disconnect from the corporate head office and store management is passed down to the employees who are left to deal with the mess. Individuals in the “lead” position are not well equipped and frequently power trip out on employees. Putting up with the store manager Eric Michelson is not great either, usually passive aggressive, in a bad mood and cold to employees . Products are disgustingly expensive and wages for employees are unliveable. Hours for work were cut for all employees and majority ended up finding work elsewhere. High emphasis on moving up within the company but management shows little to no support when employees show interest in another job in the company.

Pros
Amazing company with great values. Great perks, discount, great product.
Cons
Expansion was so fast, management is just running on fumes. So many people in management positions that should not be. Very little experience for the job needing to be done. Expansion was fast, so many people were hired quickly without meeting qualifications.
