Outstanding projects but future looks grey
Pros
Projects are among the most advanced ones you would find. This is a place where you have the impression to achieve something. People are smart, enthusiastic and friendly. The company takes into consideration human and social aspects. You will find opportunities to develop your ideas if you are ready to strive for them as there is a general interest for innovation, but do not expect too much support. The company is a leader on the market and has an excellent reputation.
Cons
The situation of the company is not easy: financial and technical risk quite high with the next generation of Ariane rockets about to be completed, and a challenging global competition. This limits the possibilities to invest in new areas. The travel policy has recently been reviewed and any travel out of France has to be validated by the senior management. Mobility is limited, and the company is a bit like a small village where everybody knows each other. Culture at work is very French, with few international people. The company has only facilities in France and in Germany and lacks international exposure. You are supposed to work for the interest of your project, and should not expect financial incentives. Salaries are a bit below what you would expect in other industry. Buildings are a bit old/cheap, with many noisy open spaces. You have limited internet access, very slow and a lot of sites are not accessible (including all the social media sites). Administrative people are terrible. It takes months (many months, really) to get the access that lets you reach your office. In the mean time, you have to rely on your colleagues to let you in. Evolution within the company is very slow and people stay at the same role for very long duration.
