I worked at Arnold Clark full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Worked with some great people & a couple of reasonable managers (but mainly terrible)

    Cons

Terrible managers who wouldn't know the meaning of the word management if it punched them in the face Favouritism Ridiculous working hours even by motor trade standards Commission structure changed for the worse, despite the answers given by the company elsewhere it's obvious the 5 day week was only brought in to save on staff wages compared to the old 6 day structure. The option to stay on it should have been there, especially as on the alleged 5 day week you'll end up having to come in anyway.

    Negative Outlook
    Disapproves of CEO

I worked at Arnold Clark full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    Some friendly members of staff

    Cons

Your so called newly promoted racist and sexist manager was on a power trip and waved a rolled up banner at my face in front of a witness and on camera then hid in his office with all the blinds closed when i complained to HR about him,HR simply brushed this under the rug as he apparently knows higher up managers and made me out to be the problem. Nothing like being bullied at work on a daily basis to force you out the door.

    Pros

Staff benefits, decent salary compared to some competitors

    Cons

Just treated as a number and not a valued member of staff. Always pulled for things done wrong, never noticed for going above and beyond. Deemed as moaning when arguing back.

I have been working at Arnold Clark full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

-Pay is above market rates in many cases -There is true work/life balance -CEO values the Digital Department and he proved this during the pandemic -Digital Department really did an awesome job during the first months of the pandemic to speed up and digitalise a ton of processes. -For a non-tech company they really upped their game the last 3 years.

    Cons

-True remote working (regardless the pandemic) not on the table yet -Very difficult to jump between teams and collaborate. Many silos. -2 speed teams, depending on the product. Some cutting edge, some work on relics. -Arbitrary deadlines -No clear progression path -Difficult to jump higher on the salary ladder. Salary bumps can't happen only with counter offers or by waiting for years & years. No map to navigate. -Benefits are truly meh -Very limited number of sick days
