    Pros

    - Career progression is available if you are willing to work for it - Company is the best in the industry no one else comes close - The team are unlike any other team you will work with its like working with family. (in a good way) - Company is going through positive change in all areas and focusing more on what the employees think and need to change. - Competitive OTE and uncapped commission. - Product is amazing in all aspects it works and delivers value to the clients - most people in the industry have heard of AspenTech

    Cons

    - There is a process for everything (but again they are changing this) - Complicated product - Not a role for someone that is lazy.

    Advice to Management

    - Relax decision making - Think outside the box a little bit - Be flexible if something makes scenes.

I worked at AspenTech full-time for less than a year

    Pros

    Salary is OK, onsite facilities

    Cons

Management adopts a culture of fear infused with bullying leading to exceedingly low staff moral and high stress levels. Mental health wellbeing is a major concern for some staff who seem paralised by a draconian bureaucratic system which has reduced them to a shadow of their former self.

    Advice to Management

Adopt 21st century working practices and standards....

I worked at AspenTech full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Benefits. Canteen. Free parking. Good starting salary which comes at a high price.

    Cons

Most draconian company I've ever worked for. Management rules by fear and is proud of hear. CEO and COO are complete control freaks and want to be involved in the smallest decision. There is a process for everything which means that nothing gets done and stress and frustration are present everywhere. You are just a number and will be bullied out if you don't fit the cliques that exist everywhere in this company. Everyone who is there for longer than a year is completely miserable, i have never seen so many miserable people in one place in my life. Don't dare to question the rules and look for improvement areas, you will be on the Black list immediately. Also don't dare to get sick or you will be told by your manager that you are expected to come back in no matter how you are. Otherwise take your papers. Basically be a robot and don't think independently. Or be a completely miserable person who enjoys the misfortune of others and excels at bullying people out. Then you may survive there. But if you want to keep your mental and physical health and work professionally, don't even think of joining. Once you are in, nobody will care about you and every day of your working life will be hell and you will wonder how you deserved that. All this is reflected in a huge turn over of people and in other reviews here which are not written by HR.

    Advice to Management

Treat your employees as humans. Stop reigning by fear and by promoting sexism and bullying. Be customer focused and adapt a normal decision making process without the need of such a huge bureaucracy. You have enough bureaucracy for 5 companies and can not even organise the simplest things. We are not in the 80s anymore. Start implementing a civilised working culture and addressing the large number of passive aggressive individuals in your company who yell when they think fit without any consequences.

I worked at AspenTech full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Zero, apart from maybe the annual sales kick off which is generally in a nice location and well catered for.

    Cons

This is singularly the most dysfunctional company I've ever worked for and they are the epitome of everything that's wrong in the corporate world. The CEO is a complete control freak and his tight grip on control stifles every ounce of willingness to go above and beyond. In fact he told me that employee engagement surveys are a farce designed to make companies spend millions only to get good reviews. The customer comes last in their eyes, they value their dysfunctional process so much that they seldom deviate from protocol even if it's causing the customer pain. The sales reps are celebrated for charging above list price which may be great for profit but not great for customers. If it weren't for a strong product there would be no reason to deal with them at all.

    Advice to Management

When competition develop a product that is comparable your customers will leave in droves because they have been over-charged and under-served for decades.

I have been working at AspenTech full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

nice people to work with as always is the case.

    Cons

The senior management team are bullies/ they do not know what employee engagement means. Great things were meant to happen with the new CEO taking over, but no everything remained the same apart from a lick of fresh paint on walls to paint over them ever deepening cracks in the company culture and style.

    Advice to Management

Let people do their jobs, stop micro managing -

    Pros

Incredible people. Fast work pace. Customer base is awesome. Technology rocks. Exciting time to be at Aspen.

    Cons

Too much “red tape” , management needs to listen a bit more in Boston , let sales sell and less admin stuff.

    Advice to Management

Trust your people to do their job -otherwise why hire them ? Speed up approval processes for paperwork - improve comp plan.

I worked at AspenTech full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

paycheck never bounced and health claim always paid out.

    Cons

AspenTech has a long history of doing big deals with international energy & chemical companies. These deals come along very infrequently. If you are lucky enough to hit the jackpot on your first spin of the wheel (Quarter 1/2) your commission will be "Windfall" clause reduced. Stated another way you wont see even half of what the payout should be.

    Advice to Management

reveal your cards during the hiring process.

I worked at AspenTech full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

The benefits are among the best. As a salesperson, it's easy to take for granted the sales fulfillment process. AspenTech is nearly flawless in execution. AspenTech' marketing group is a leader in the top tier and an asset to customers and prospects alike.

    Cons

The sales comp plans are overly complex and bordered on punitive. Not much of an incentive in a shrinking economy.

    Advice to Management

Incent employees more equitably and the growth would be astonishing.
