I have been working at AstraZeneca full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Large company with a lot of resources. Great benefits.

    Cons

Can be very demanding at times. Long hours, and overtime required.

    Advice to Management

Management should be more engaged with employees to know what is truly going on in the workplace.

I worked at AstraZeneca full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great benefits. 401K match is really good, separate retirement fund provided aside from match, good PTO, medical, dental, vision, paid education.

    Cons

The more you do, the more you are expected to do. Been decreasing staff since 2008 and continuing to do so. Culture used to be great, now it is a very negative place to be.

    Advice to Management

Value the workers that provide the most and that value the work and the customers. Do what you say so you truly are transparent.

    Advice to Management

Go for it! Stop being fat and happy and make something happen. We're living off expiriing patents and sputtering pipeline. Get to work!

    Pros

The best reasons to work here are the benefits. That is slowly changing though. Human Resources is slowly restricting our healthcare options and is keeping salaries and raises to a minimum.

    Cons

The downsides of working here are: 1) Senior Management has no backbone, flawed vision and a poor strategy for achieving desired goals.

    Advice to Management

I would say to follow the advice in the book Good to Great: get the right people on the bus, get the wrong people off of the bus and get the right people in the right seats!

    Pros

The benefits are excellent and the hours are great at the site, either a 4 day work week or a 4 and a half day work week with every friday ending at about 11:30.

    Cons

The management structure and the lack of candidness, there is a lot of change happening and even management doesn't know how it will turn out.

    Advice to Management

Ask the people who do the work what they think. When LEAN was 'implemented' it just happened, there was little thought about who would do the work once all of the managers were displaced. Now they just shuffled people into jobs with even less clarity.
