I have been working at AstraZeneca full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Freedom to work your Territory as you know best. I have a great manager who coaches very well.

    Cons

The Managed Care environment is very restrictive this year and the physician’s Time is more and more limited in general in my field. I think the IT solutions at AstraZeneca need a serious revamping. We have way too many different sites and platforms. We should be all Apple based. Currently we do some functions on computer and others on iPad and it is a mess. Not effective or efficient.

    Advice to Management

Bravo, Great work updating the career model and making it more fair to move up in career levels! Please make the IT systems all work together so the field can use one powerful iPad to do everything. We waste too much time on two incompatible platforms and too many different websites. One word, SIMPLIFY.

I have been working at AstraZeneca full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The R&D invests in quality products. They are marketing experts. Most generous patient assistance program.

    Cons

Bad communications between company and field. Disconnected company culture.

    Advice to Management

Refresh and motivate the entire field sales force. Do this by investing in training and development in the people you have already invested in that currently work for you.

I worked at AstraZeneca full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good pay and benefits right out of college.

    Cons

The PSS role at AZ quickly becomes mundane and boring. If you are okay with a checkbox culture with few opportunities for creativity or critical thinking then the PSS role at AZ is for you.

    Pros

The pay is decent and the job is inconceivably easy. A pharma rep that tells you they work hard is either extremely naive about what it means to work or is a very dishonest pharma rep.

    Cons

Instability of the company and industry is the worst part. I can't imagine going back to an industry where layoff worries are a constant concern. Stay away from this industry.

    Advice to Management

Find a new industry in which to manage people

I have been working at AstraZeneca full-time

    Pros

The knowledge you gain with this company is invaluable. The company is strong on communication, education, and integrity. I thoroughly enjoyed selling my medications to the physicians and their staff. The evening programs, training, and collaboration of strategy made it exciting. In addition, keeping within budget constraints taught discipline and accountability. Riding with your manager was a great coaching experience that was a day all about you and how you could be a better sales professional.

    Cons

Company has poor management, A lot of reorg every year was there 5 years before layoff, No pipeline. Not a good life work balance.
