I have been working at AstraZeneca full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Very delivery oriented which is good.

    Cons

Double IT delivery for half cost, the strain and pressure is unbelievable. Unforgiving leaders. Makes life miserable, impacts sleep, impacts family. Unrelenting. 60-80 hour works are punishing.

    Advice to Management

The current pace of delivery is unsustainable, what will break is the people trying to deliver.

Benefits package competitive. All working environments were good for delivery and the quality of technical staff was good.

    Cons

Constant strategy changes made operational activities difficult and the hierarchical structure in parts of the organization made decision making slow.

    Advice to Management

Change in culture to speed up decision making and change. Allow the high quality staff the space and autonomy to deliver change.

Lovely people, some good managers, good work life balance

    Cons

Hard to get promoted internally, too many organisational changes

    Advice to Management

Executive Leadership is actually leading the company to scientific greatness - we're helping more and more patients - it's an exciting time to be a part of the organization

    Cons

The constant re-orgs get tiresome.... even if there is no headcount reduction, we spend a lot of time trying to re-define how we work with each other

I have been working at AstraZeneca as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

It is a great environment and culture at the philadelphia AZ/Media site. Management are nice and you interact with the site leadership team. It is cozy and people tend to want to help you if you show you want to be there.

    Cons

Since you are a contractor with entry level experience there isn't a lot of opportunities to be a fulltime.

    Advice to Management

Provide more opportunities for the entry level guys. Head count should not be reduced at the entry level but rather at the management level.
