    Learn about new culture, gain childcare experience, meet other au pairs from different countries.

    Cons

    Pay is bad, family can make you work overtime with no extra pay, local 'leader/contact' not always helpful or involved with au pairs, company does not make any checks on au pairs when they are caring for children & some au pairs were drinking smoking napping.

    You get to meet great people from all parts of the world

    Cons

    Sometimes counselors do not do their job right and you have to figure out how to solve problems yourself. I believe the company does not check on them frequently as they should

    I have been working at Au Pair in America part-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    Flexible schedule (able to make own schedule), getting to meet new families in community and au pairs

    Cons

    Pay is not great and company does not fund phone, gas etc., while flexibility is nice, there is pressure to respond to urgent situations during "time off" on evenings and weekends
