    - superannuation and other benefits above average - work-life balance - good place to work if you lack a hard work ethic

    Cons

    - bad culture - red tape everywhere, good luck trying to change something

    Doesn't Recommend
    Negative Outlook
    No Opinion of CEO

I have been working at Australian Taxation Office full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Claims that they offer flexible working arrangements.

    Cons

Reality is some senior managers don't like staff that work part time or work from home. Micromanaging from senior managers. A culture of accuse first and get the facts later if ever.

    Advice to Management

Practise what you preach. Words alone aren't enough when it's all empty promises.

    No Opinion of CEO

I have been working at Australian Taxation Office for less than a year

    Pros

Established teams and structure. The graduate program is great. A lot of library of business and functional documents to get a good understanding of the job.

    Cons

Unfortunately teams seem to still work in silos. A lot of people to get know. Finding the right one to assist with your job is a challenge.

    Advice to Management

Give the employee the opportunity to break the status quo and allow innovation, without getting in trouble.

    Neutral Outlook

I worked at Australian Taxation Office full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Work life balance is pretty much guaranteed (until senior management levels anyway) due to decent leave provisions and the fact the you can't take work due to confidentiality reasons. Most people are really nice and down to earth. There is scope to move around and try new things.

    Cons

Difficult to get recognised via promotions as these are dependent on budget and due to the selection process which involves an independent selection panel reviewing written responses to criteria, it is arguable that the most experienced/competent people may not get through to an interview. A lot of procedures and administration can take up your time at work. If you want an international career with travel opportunities...

I have been working at Australian Taxation Office

    Pros

large area for movement although slow at moving at times. Excellent community. Very stable for permanent staff. Very financial rewarding for contractors.

    Cons

It is Tax focus but there are 20000 employees so not everything is tax. IT is very large.
