I have been working at Aviva full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Really genuinely care about staff - as seen during Coronavirus with everyone working from home and nobody furloughed. Very flexible. Open minded and inclusive. Friendly atmosphere.

    Cons

Hoxton office not the easiest to commute to as the northern line is always rammed

    Disapproves of CEO

I have been working at Aviva full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Benefits on paper are fantastic: Generous pension contributions Share save scheme Equal parental leave Wellbeing initiatives

    Cons

Aviva talks a lot about diversity and inclusion but, in reality, so many people feel excluded. So much money is thrown at LGBT events as they attract good PR. The “inclusion team” has a high turnover with many of them disappearing mysteriously under the radar - that speaks volumes in itself. The company is London-centric, there’s a restructure roughly every 1-2 years and plenty of redundancies each time.

    Disapproves of CEO

    I worked at Aviva

    Pros

It looks good on your CV

    Cons

People are unwilling to take ownership of tasks. The company is so large with a constant turnover of staff/redundancies. You feel like a small cog most of the time.

I have been working at Aviva full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Great benefits. Lots of internal job opportunities. Great head offices. Opportunities to work in different locations.

    Cons

Political. Favouritism exists. Sometimes you have to play the corporate game to get things done.

    Negative Outlook

I have been working at Aviva full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Benefits package still attractive, so although pension scheme has moved to defined benefits the employer contribution is likely to be unmatched in the market. Still gives annual bonus (personal and company performance based). Good internal training courses, and usually a good commitment to professional development. Good commitment to social responsibility programmes.

    Cons

Constant restructures (10 weeks between the last two), ergo little job security and negative impact on atmosphere/morale. A lot of good talent now left company in last 12 months. Annual share award all but disappeared. Very short-termist view with regards to new initiatives and change investment. Declining staff satisfaction scores.
