    Pros

The team I work with are like my work family. Great atmosphere which helps me to enjoy my job.

    Cons

The long waiting times phoning when phoning customer helplines or delivery depots. When the computer systems are slow.

    Advice to Management

Reward and recognition could do with being improved so that people are encouraged to learn more and progress within their role.

    I worked at B&Q full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good team, lots of knowledge and experience

    Cons

It’s retail, so you need to be able to work at pace. Not really a con, but you need to. E able to keep up.

    I worked at B&Q part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Other staff were very welcoming and helpful.

Pay was pretty decent (~£7.60 p/h) especially for a 17 year old, I'm sure this increases over time.

Was always listened to when wanting to swap shifts etc.

Hours were always very good, when I first started out I wasn't expected to work too early (no earlier than about 10am at first).

    Cons

Can get really busy and stressful at times, especially during the summer/on Wednesdays (10% over 60s discount)

Many, often older, customers can be extremely rude and disrespectful.

Often a problem with missing barcodes, would take ages to get through to a member of staff to find the relevant barcode (also doesn't help if you're a 17 y/o girl who has no knowledge of DIY whatsoever), causing customers to get agitated.

    Cons

Can get hectic during seasonal periods so extra planning is needed and not always given.

I have been working at B&Q part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great, friendly staff help you settle straight in and work alongside. Any task set is not overbearing or time-consuming.

    Cons

Occasional lack of communication when things are changed. Managment often seem distant to general staff and regularly observe from afar and criticise when they can but rarely step in to help.

    Advice to Management

Increase communication to all staff when things are changed and offer to help when it gets busy.

    Pros

Staff really friendly and helpful nothing is too much trouble they help new starters and never complain

    Cons

Can be very busy at times

    Advice to Management

Don't really know who is management as everyone wears the same uniform and management work on the shop floor
