    Pros

    Great people, strong family feel and great opportunities. My development has always been encouraged, since day one I felt respected and valued. I feel like I can and have made a difference and I am supported by my peers and management.

    Cons

    Working in such a high paced, changing industry you need to be agile and adapt quickly. If you fear change this is not the right place for you.

    Have learnt a lot and work with great people had the opportunity to progress my career .Exciting times ahead and face new challenges everyday

    Cons

    Need more colleagues on shop floor to help serve the customers during peak periods . Instore wifi needs upgraded to assist colleagues and customers

    I worked at B&Q part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Long breaks for 9 hour shifts.

    Friendly and likeable staff.

    Good deal of DIY knowledge learned.

    Good staff discount applicable on kitchens as well as most stock and offers.

    Cons

    Poor management, they treat staff poorly and never seem to be working, nor available to help when needed.

    Even worse HR and employee support.

    Repetitive and dull shifts, no area for improvement or growth.

    Advice to Management

    Review company management, both departmentally and the entire store itself.

    Delegate better tasks and responsibilities to both staff and management, allowing staff to understand more responsibilities to feel rewarded and proud of their work.

    Flexible shifts.. some managers are excellent.. good staff discouht

    Cons

    H/O are detached from shop floor... Clueless about what is really needed. Managers adapt a hands off approach and stand back and watch as staff struggle

    Advice to Management

    Stop forcing staff to o2 stock and display empty shelves when zero stock available to fill the hole..planagrams are great if there's stock...we can't sell fresh air.. yet big holes on shelves are advertising we have no stock..
    Recent event... 2 staff on tills.. big queues.. 2 frontend supervisors watching... poor management... one of them could have done a 10 mins queue busting..but no... rather stand n watch..
    Staff have to now decent a cage of 10kgs bags of coal and 're stack them so POS is on a bandstand in the middle of the stock.. takes ages to do this and does not sell anymore stock than previous pricing display system... waste of time and before long staff will get injured. Poor management decision making...
    Could keep writing for hours on all the issues...
    Best step B&Q could do is trim back 2 levels of management and Employ more cat's... after all its the ca's who put money in the tills...

    Very few hardworking managers

    Slow business progression

    Advice to Management

    Instead of giving out simple tasks that you could easily do, do them yourself. It saves everyone a lot of time and hassle.
