I have been working at BAE Systems UK full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

As the title says it's an interesting job with varied work and you get to work with some of the best minds.

    Cons

Salary is way below market rate for engineers and they are failing to retain early careers people.

    Advice to Management

A lot of middle and upper management come across as incompetent. People are treated as a number and statistic rather then people and assets.

I have been working at BAE Systems UK full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

The share scheme is very good

    Cons

Once you are into an executive position the attitude is that you should be pushed up and moved on. And god forbid you don't want to. It's great if you want a fast track career managing nothing you know about. This has lead to no longevity in any roles. Decision making subsequently has personal agendas and not necessarily best for business. Responsibility is cascaded right down to a lower (and small) population of professionals because the executive levels haven't a clue about the products they're managing which is causing overloading of senior technical personnel. Anyone brave enough to challenge decisions are black marked as dinosaurs and blockers.

    Advice to Management

Stop surrounding yourself by more incompetent people just so you can get the answer you want rather than the answer the business needs. There should be a balance of experience and knowledge vs. job rotation/elevation at senior levels.

I worked at BAE Systems UK full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    There isnt any at all

    Cons

All of them, but mainly management, and you dont get compensated enough for what you have to do/go through

    Advice to Management

Management is very incapable of doing the simplest of things, you go to management with an issue, it takes them 12 months to turn around and say, yes we know the issue, and we are not going to do anything at all.

Sort yourself out BAE Systems, treat people as people, not as a number until they are injured, only then are you not a number, you are a statistic
