I have been working at BAE Systems UK full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Stable and reliable company with a number of avenues of work. Flexible working schemes and relavtively relaxed atmosphere. Some exciting opportunities if you're in the right team. Average salary. Increased annually to account for inflation and rising costs.

    Cons

No clear progression scheme, you just have to go for opportunities as they come by. Relaxed culture results in a lack of team drive at times to aim for excellence. Very hard to implement positive changes. No performance based pay. No process in place for within-role salary increases.

I have been working at BAE Systems UK full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Diverse workforce, significant investment in areas allowing ideas to be followed through. Embraces simple ways of working digitally, supporting remote working across many sites.

    Cons

Slow to make decisions, undergoes continuous organisational change, yet rarely creates the right organisation. Center of gravity still in large manufacturing centers requiring large amounts of travel even though digital options are available to connect.

    Advice to Management

    Invest in digital

I worked at BAE Systems UK full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Lots of opportunities to try do activities outside of the day-to-day role if you are proactive. Lots of experienced and supportive colleague, I was given responsibility and 'real' work from day one. 37 hour weeks and flexitime make for a great work life balance.

    Cons

Don't get any real say in the role you'll be placed in so it is a bit of a lottery as to whether you'll enjoy the work. The salary is pretty low for the placement considering the locations available, which all have a high cost of living, and the quality of work you will be doing. There isn't any difference between the work expected from a placement and a graduate (who may have the same level of experience if they just did a 3-year course).
