    Positive experience. Positive future.

    Pros

    - Interesting projects - Growing firm - Young employees - Lots of opportunity - Good pay (better than Big 4) - Scope to get involved in new initiatives - Small company vibe

    Cons

    - Some managers are not as well versed as others. Coming from Big 4, I would say managers there were often more competent / driven. However, likely to change as BCS are recruiting excellent talent who if they stay will bring the quality of BCS up. - Wealth and Asset side of business is still quite small

Good - but do not go to BCS if you are ambitious (seriously!)

    Pros

I came across BCS consulting through a recruiter that reached out to me while I was an analyst at one of the big 4. At first glance, BCS looks good - you get a bump in pay (c.£43k for an Associate Consultant + bonus), and more autonomy in the work you do. Also the HR team and the learning teams are brilliant and incredibly supportive - always stepping in to support with learning and offering amazing courses!

    Cons

    1) There is a glut in top talent at the firm – lots of mediocre ex-big4 consultants. And many BCS employees naively hold the belief that BCS is a top firm. 2) In reality BCS often competes against the likes of Tata Consulting Services for low value-add consulting work (ie. consultant day rates at around £800 - which is significantly lower than big 4 and about 1/5th the day rate of top tier consulting). 3) As such, now as i look for exits my exits are incredibly limited. Employers who know BCS view it as a low value add consulting firm, and the majority of employers do not know the firm. This means future income is lower than just staying at the big 4 4) There is a culture of promoting loud speakers - I know of several principals who are very poor in their management of staff but have been promoted up because of they speak the loudest. In particular the firm uses this personality profile matrix (a colour coded matrix) and has a few people who are senior in the red space who are poor managers and consultants but have been promoted up for essentially being loud. 5) The worst technology of any firm – when you join you get a used laptop, and you are to bring your own phone to work - albeit you get a small stipend for the phone. The issue here is that the quality of IT is ridiculously poor which makes doing any work incredibly arduous. This all being said if you are looking for a 9-6 that pays decently and are happy to plateau after reaching £80/90k, then BCS is a good deal. Personally, if I could go back I would have stayed at the big 4 and waited to move to a firm with a better reputation.

    Pros

Still has a small company culture despite growing rapidly. You get to work with great people, and almost everyone is very good at their job. Progression is based purely on performance and not time-bound. Senior management is caring and competent, right up to the CEO.

    Cons

Nothing significant. There is too much weight placed on internal contribution of anything
