I worked at Bain & Company full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

There are a lot of reasons why Bain is a wonderful place to work:
    -Top notch training programs
    -Amazing and inspirational people
-Great compensation for the work you do
-Ability to transfer to other offices
    -Zero politics before Manager level
    -Varied and interesting work

    Cons

Some of the main challenges of working at Bain:
-It can be hard to strike a balance between work and personal life, but the company tries to do what they can to help. Really depends on the case you're on and the manager you're working for.
-Not everyone at the top (Partners/Directors) are aligned with our working principles (especially transfers from other firms) which sometimes translates into uncomfortable conversations around where priorities are between family and work
-If someone demonstrates ability within a certain capability/industry some Partners will unofficially 'ringfence' them into their teams, making it difficult to get broad exposure
-Smaller offices sometimes find it hard to really buy-into all the flexibility options available to the wider organisation (transfers, LOAs, etc.)

    Advice to Management

    My advice for the Partners/Directors:
-Get to know your teams at the kick-offs
-Don't oversell cases and then understaff teams (rare, but devastating effect on work/life)
-You were once an analyst (about 200 years ago), don't forget these are just kids not robots

I have been working at Bain & Company full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Incredibly collaborative (both internally and with clients); accelerated development; a meritocracy that at the same time strives to do its best to not leave people behind; people passionate about incredible things outside of work and a general culture that people find themselves gravitating to; flat operating structure (limited boundaries and frequent interaction between junior staff and senior partners)

    Cons

It's consulting at a top strategy consulting firm... the hours can be long and, although I believe Bain does a better job than others at managing travel requirements, there are still nights required on the road

    Advice to Management

Bain is truly an incredible place to work. But as we continue to grow astronomically, please be careful to not lose the great things that make the firm what it is.

I have been working at Bain & Company full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    - Opportunity to grow and develop professionally - both through skillset / client work experience and active coaching and mentorship from leadership
    - Opportunity to become an 'expert-generalist' by exploring multiple industries and functions, utilizing and building on the foundation laid in the MBA experience
    - Exit opportunities abound and company is supportive of future career path, inside and outside of the Company
    - Talented peers who provide professional comradery and personal friendships, which accelerate the learnings and opportunities that Bain provides

    Cons

    - Steep learning curve, you are always challenged are always working with very bright, smart, savvy people. This means you might not always be the smartest person in the room.

    Advice to Management

Keep hiring the bright, talented folks you do - they are inspiring to work with and make it a joy and a privilege to work here.
