I have been working at Bain & Company full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    Amazing culture
    - Great exposure to client's most critical problems
    - Highest level of personal development commitment and opportunities
    - Amazing career options (from industry, Funds, etc,)
    - Benefit of not being a huge firm - entrepreneurial, people actually do know each other

    Cons

    - Still a tough job - hours can be long and busy
    - Comp. for expensive, large cities (London, NYC) not very compelling anymore

    Advice to Management

Keep focused on our most valuable assets:
    - our people (continue focused on recruitment and improve comp packages)
    - our culture (true north, collaborative, pragmatic and results oriented)
    - our clients (avoid trap of going after big client names just for the sake of going. work with people that want to do things and drive results)

    Pros

Strong culture, objective, very fair, rewards performance, offers immense flexibility, focus on mentor shop and coaching and servant leadership. Best place to work.

    Cons

Very few if you want to have a career in advisory services. Travel could be unrelenting but that is an industry issue.

    Cons

Careers in Professional services can always be accompanied with a short bursts of stress at times

    Advice to Management

Carry on focusing on getting the best out of individuals - keep the apprenticeship model alive

I have been working at Bain & Company full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Great place to work with very high quality people, interesting clients and super-challenging case work. Good career progression comes as standard, with very good promotion opportunities and broader career transition effectiveness

    Cons

Like all consulting, you will work hard. We're client facing, so we do focus on delivering to a very high standard, which can feel quite relentless if not managed properly.

I have been working at Bain & Company full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Bain is an inspiring and rewarding place to work, as from day 1 you feel the tangible and significant impact your work has on the client and their business success. Additionally, Bain has a strong track record in training and developing its people (global trainings etc). Finally, its the drive and energy of a diverse but highly motivated colleagues that makes the work inspiring.

    Cons

Work can be demaning, e.g. in terms of travel requirements

    Advice to Management

Ensure to maintain the strong and supportive Bain culture as the company grows

    Pros

The people are smart, capable, humble and passionate!

    Cons

The downside of always being challenged intellectually and professionally is that it can feel like you never have a moment to just "be"

I have been working at Bain & Company full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The learning is non-stop, once you get comfortable doing something you will be pushed to take bigger roles in more challenging environments. This makes it to be a challenging job, but the supportive culture and apprenticeship model helps to make it a place to thrive

    Cons

Promotion process is pretty opaque, leading to lots of stress for anyone in a promotion window. Despite opportunities to improve the process, leadership seems happy that the induced stress leads to better client outcomes.

    Advice to Management

Take a good hard look at the promotion process and think about potential changes (don't be satisfied with the status quo).

I have been working at Bain & Company full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    - Incredibly challenging work, working on Senior Executives' most challenging topics.
    - Passion for driving results for the clients, not just showing up to look smart.
    - Incredibly supportive culture with colleagues who want you to succeed.

    Cons

If you're going to be in the type of career that Bain offers you too, you will be working hard. Fortunately, at Bain, you know that every hour you worked was a highly leveraged one.

    Advice to Management

Keep pushing to be the best at helping clients on their toughest problems and to do it in a way that makes one proud to be at Bain.

  11. "Best career to make an impact, in a true "one team" environment"

I have been working at Bain & Company full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

After 11 years at Bain, I still believe that this is the very best place in the world to make an exceptional impact at a young age. Bainies of all ages help executives make pragmatic, results-oriented decisions and are never shy to give tell the inconvenient truths. Besides, "Bainies" make an extraordinary team of individuals that never let each other down. Bain really stands as one global team. Whatever tenure and office: a Bainie never lets another Bainie fail, and are always available to help out on their own project, or another.

    Cons

Sometime we do miss being part of the execution of the strategies and implementation plans that we have developed together with our clients. There were times that I was really tempted to join the client's Management team to help deliver the results myself. Nevertheless glad that I am still at Bain.
