I have been working at Bain & Company as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

The people you work with are smart, curious, interesting, and kind. The work is on problems straight from news headlines. You learn so much, so fast.

    Cons

Long hours around ~12-15 Monday through Thursday when a case is in full swing.

    Pros

Great compensation, great experience, easy to find a job later

    Cons

small offices can be run like a small business, with senior management picking favorites and making decisions based on emotion rather than merit

I worked at Bain & Company as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Good exposure to business issues across a variety of clients, excellent colleagues who are smart, fun and hard working. High access to managers and partners so good opportunities for mentoring

    Cons

You live or die by the cases you're staffed on. A bad case can ruin an otherwise stellar record. Need to keep track of the skills you're learning to manage own timely progress.

I worked at Bain & Company as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

From day one, MBA interns join a client-facing team and are expected to make meaningful contributions to the team's output. Above and beyond delivering client results, I found that my team made an incredible effort to focus on my personal and professional development as I tried to understand how a full-time career at Bain might take shape. To sum it up in a few words: intellectual stimulating, deeply collaborative, real results, skill development, and above all, fun!

    Cons

Occasionally I worked longer hours than I expected in response to client needs, but nothing unreasonable. To mitigate this issue, Bain teams review their priorities weekly and complete an anonymous sustainability survey (shared at the team level) to help senior team members understand whether the team is feeling underwhelmed or overworked. I personally observed a rich discussion and a corrective action taken as a result of this survey.

    Advice to Management

I had a terrific summer, please continue to deliver an experience that enables interns to appreciate what a career at Bain might look like.
