I have been working at Baker Tilly International full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    1) Good exposure to companies in various industries, such as construction, manufacturing, fund management, etc.
    2) See the whole picture, ie. from the planning to the completion stage, at associate or senior associate level, which is not the case in Big 4. (at least this is what happened for me)
    3) Friendly and helpful colleagues, and some managers
    4) Partners welcome staff to discuss audit issues with them
    5) Just started using Caseware this year, will definitely improve the process of rolling AWP in future.

    Cons

    1) No work life balance
    2) Engagement assignments allocation need improvement. Some staff are overworked, while others are quite free.
    3) Lack of staff benefits, such as only staff who are taking SQP will get full subsidy. Those who are studying ACCA or CPA will have to fork out their own money.
    4) Lack of team bonding activities, feel like all work and no play.
    5) Recently increased senior's notice period from 1 to 2 months together with salary adjustment, without advance notice
    6) Before the implementation of Caseware, need to print the AWPs, which wasted lots of papers.

    Advice to Management

    1) Improve staff benefits. At least give partial subsidies to those studying ACCA and CPA.
    2) Buy more fans, as there is no air-con during weekends.
    3) Organise more internal team bonding activities, which are not too expensive.

    Pros

    Nothing good!
Partners likes to micro-manage. good for me so my performance is recognised.
Like the friendly colleagues and managers

    Cons

    Highly political
Too many partners, many different standard
Poor bonus cos money goes back to partners pocket.
Partners likes to micro-manage. Not good for managers.. they r ill-treated.
For new staff from Malaysia, partner will offer the similar salary but in SGD. not so similar pay for same position n experience.

    Advice to Management

Your team of staff turn in revenue, recognise their hard work thru $$$. After all most are foreigners who want higher pay.

    Negative Outlook

I worked at Baker Tilly International full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Basically if you work hard enough, you will get promotion half a year once thought the hierarchy might be a bit too much. Which started from Audit Associate 2 (Fresh Graduate) -> Audit Associate 1 -> Audit Semi Senior -> Audit Senior 2 -> Audit Senior 1 -> Audit Senior Executive 2 -> Audit Senior Executive 1 -> Assistant Manager (Which might need around 1 year or more for promotion) -> Manager

    Cons

Work overtime till night, midnight, weekends, which is pretty common in larger audit firms. Managements would encourage unhealthy competition among colleagues by implying who is doing better and who is not, at times, would even bad mouthed poorer performance colleagues.
